Thinking processes
influence what is learned.

This component I can relate majorly to what I do as
a social worker.  With my job working with
individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.  Although you may think some decisions are
very simple for others they may not be. If the mind isn’t processing a situation correctly it is hard to make
the right decision or to learn anything. As for myself, the thinking process
can affect the way you learn in many different ways. If you are negative about
a certain class from the start you may end of ruining your chance of learning
anything from the start.

Learners actively create
- rather than passively absorb - much of what they know and believe about the
world;

This component relates
to the learning from your own experiences and not just from a textbook within
the classroom setting.  The more you know
about the world the better and a lot of this learning comes from experience.
The ones who just go along with learning the information and never questioning
will not go very far in their field. Those who create and question are often the ones who succeed in the
world.

Learners use what they
already know and believe to help them make sense of new experiences.

Learners often want decide to study a subject
because of their own beliefs of experiences in their lives. Our own experiences
guide and shape our thoughts on what is going to happen next.  What we have learned previously often helps
guide us in deciding on what makes sense in a similar but more elaborate
situation.  Sometimes these things we
have already learned can hinder us in learning from new experiences or new
interactions.  For instance in Human
Services we come across a lot of discrimination. If a teenager has learned to
hate a certain type of race because of their parents it may guide them to make
poor choice in new interactions.  The
teen goes to school and since he has learned to discriminate from his parents
he feel as though all of this particular race is bad. In this type of situation
