The number of homicide if too much for a small country like us. Other countries have higher population and are not killing each other. We are a developing nation and if we continue having so much crimes the development will delay.

Placencia, San Pedro, and Caye Caulker are all considered safer areas for tourists. Belize City can be safe too if you stick to the tourist areas and don't wander off alone.
This link here gives tips as to how to not be a victim of crime https://www.thebrokebackpacker.com/is-belize-safe/
One of the things that explains better as to why these places are safer is because people are very tourist friendly and the small place is congested with kind people that makes it difficult for a criminal to go about committing crime. Witnesses stops ✋ .

Crime stopping initiative

A crime stopping initiative in Belize is "Crime Stoppers" an advantage of this is that many crimes could be stopped or solved. There methos of doing this is by giving rewards to people who have information that can lead them to the suspects. A disadvantage is that not all the information could be reliable some really just want the reward that they might invent things.
Another, "the Crime Investigation Branch" (CIB) is a unit that is trained to investigate old cases and new cases of crime that are unsolved. An advantage of this branch is that many people are being trained and maybe in the future many unsolved crimes can be solved. A disadvantage is that they do not have the proper resources to solve the crime and it can remain unsolved for many years.

One of the main strengths of the kolbe foundation is that of teaching these prisoners how to live a decent life when out. I myself know of a person that was in prison and he came out with the knowledge of knowing how to do meat pies which the person sells now as a way to get through daily. Teaching them how to be independent is the strength 💪 that I see working well.

I honestly believe that there should be institutions that treat violence as a health concern. We have many cases in Belize whereby young people are murdering out of rage and so forth these cases should be meticulously looked at and dealt with different approaches such as therapy, recreational therapy and so on.other countries that experience violent crimes do deal with it like that and it actually works they discover that some do have mental disorders or that they need to be on medications so they do not act violent. https://www.theguardian.com/global-development-professionals-network/2015/jun/30/24-ways-to-reduce-in-the-worlds-most-violent-cities
