This chapter explains this theme best because Noah was born a crime, his mom was black and his dad was white. His parents went against the apartheid law but they still managed to survive, his dad left but for the family safety.

In chapter 4, Trevor uses language to shift the way people perceive him. On page 54 of the novel, Trevor says, "I became a chameleon. My color didn't change, but I could change your perception of my color. I didn't look like you, but if I spoke like you, I was you." This shows how Trevor shifts his identity based on the people he's around and how he wants them to perceive him.

In this chapter we learn a little about Patricia's childhood. It brought up the 'black tax' and how Patricia served her family for a large part of her life. When Trevor discusses how he felt his childhood was rich with experience, it shows the sacrifices that Patricia made. She worked to give him a good life without putting him in debt.

In this chapter we are shown how Trevor is "Born a Crime" and that he wasn't allowed to go outside by himself and be with his dad to keep both him and his dad safe

Chapter 11 goes into identity and belonging because Trevor struggles in his school to figure out where he belongs, and who he should hang out with. He starts taking orders to pick up from the tuckshop, so he talks to everyone but still doesn't truly belong anywhere.

This Chapter connects to the theme of shared humanity by showing how people, even those who seem different, can experience the same emotions and struggles. Trevor Noah and the boy who bullied him both faced challenges. The bully hurt Trevor because he had been taught to hate. In seeking revenge Trevor realized he was continuing that cycle of pain. In the end, he saw that they were both just kids. This moment shows how understanding and empathy can break the cycles of hate, reminding us that beneath our differences, we all share the same fears, emotions, hardships, and need for acceptance.

When Bongani finds Trevor a date to the school dance, he helps Trevor find a new look. Trevor is able to find a way to present himself where he is confident. However, his date didn't speak any of the same languages as Trevor and she had an awful night with all the people surrounding her to admire her looks.

This chapter fits this theme because of the hardships they went through. They were living in a scary world, with riots, fires, and horrible people, surviving through that for a long time. The specific time of them being on that bus and Patricia throwing her and her kids out of it to save them all, represents this theme of survival.

Although this chapter is about a friend of Trevor's, sacrifice is a big theme. Teddy didn't trust Trevor enough when they were running from the police, and went a different direction, causing him to get caught. Teddy sacrificed his record and safety while Trevor was able to get away free.

Chapter 5 shows love and sacrifice because they talk about Patricias childhood and how she wanted to live with her father but was sent to stay with extended family.

I think Chapter 4 goes into Identity and belonging because the whole chapter is about him finding belonging. He switches his classes from A to B so he can be with his friends.

In Born a Crime, Trevor Noah highlights his mother’s incredible resilience as she faced many challenges, like surviving an abusive relationship and the difficulties of apartheid. Despite everything, she stayed strong, never giving up on building a better life for herself and her son.

I believe Chapter 3 goes into the theme shared Humanity because of the fact that it shows his community coming together to try and help his mother pray away a "demon"

I chose chapter 16 because Trevor chooses to keep taken old cars from abel even though he had been caught multiple times and scolded for it. In this chapter,r Trevor also decides to try to get himself out of jail by himself because he felt his step dad and his mom would be worse to deal with.

I think that chapter 10 goes with Love and Sacrifice because Trevor experiences heartbreak and asks a girl to be his valentine.

This chapter follows Trevor into adulthood when he meets his father for the first time in years. He immediately feels back at home and safe with Robert. He belongs there because his father gave him so much love.

This chapter explains how they constantly had to find ways to keep him safe because Trevor's identity was was a crime.

This chapter represents this theme because of people being so uneducated on the outside world because of the limitations apartheid put on them. Trevor and his DJ friends, including his friend, Hitler. Did not know what the name or word Hitler meant. So when they went to that Jewish school and Hitler danced for them as Trevor chanted his name, they had no idea how wrong it was because of never learning that names meaning.
