I have chosen to actually make one of the activities I created for this week. I have chosen to make my activity, classroom collage. The point of this activity is to read about a folktale about a culture outside of your own and draw a picture to go along with what you learned. I have chosen to draw the folktale of Sang Kancil and the Lion. I drew Sang Kancil bigger than the lion because although he is a small mouse deer, his cleverness always helps him preserver from his predators.

My take on the importance of this week's readings is a collage of the identities of all of the people I read about. I used a flags of China, Mexico, Cuba, and the United States to represent the nationalities of Lawrence, Catrina, and Arturo. I also included pictures of rags, a sewing machine, a puzzle fitting together, and a classroom with diverse students to represent the quote from Yep.

For my final artifact I wanted to make a venn diagram emphasizing what this class is about, culture and literacy in the classroom. I wanted it to capture our readings in a way that I thought would be easy to understand. I chose to pull quotes from our class readings,, theories we learned about, and procedures for a classroom that is inclusive in our literacy practices.
