The book describes america's first Asian american superhero. The superhero's origin effectively incorporates the Chinese religion and culture to the development of the character. Bruchac was sent to a boarding school when he was a kid that taught him that Navajo is a useless language. Soon after the Marines recruit Indians as code talkers because of their language. This makes the U.S. code almost unreadable because the Japanese have never seen the language and have no knowledge of it. This book touches on themes of being sent away and racism very effectively. Clarke. This book is a classic for a reason the book is so well written. This book combines complex themes with science fiction scenarios effortlessly.
