One main event of WWII was The Munich Conference. It was held in September and was attended by Leaders of four countries-Germany, Britain, France, and Italy. The main goal of the conference was to discuss all problems regarding Germany, especially with concern to Hitler's intention of take over Sudetenland (a German-speaking region in Czechoslovakia). British prime minister, Neville Chamberlain, thought that giving it to Hitler would maintain peace but it was opposite. This act has been considered the greatest mistake that led to greater chaos.

Germany invasion of Poland

Another main event of WWII was Germany invasion of Poland. Germany invaded Poland on September 1, 1939. Hitler's swift attack was called "blitzkrieg."(a military tactic that involves using tanks, aircraft, and infantry to launch a quick, overwhelming attack on an enemy). They used troops, fast tanks, and airplanes to quickly overwhelm Poland. The attacks was brutal and efficient. It took down Poland and Poland was defeated. The attack was so powerful that its Poland was divided between Germany and the Soviet Union. This act violated and broke agreements German had made which led to France and Britain to declare war on Germany. This was the starting point of World War II.

German Invasion of France

Another main event of WWII was German Invasion of France. After the defeat of Poland, Germany wanted to conquer France. France thought they are safe because of the Maginot Line which provide strong defense. Germany thought of going from Belgium which France did not think of. Germany (Hitler) used blitzkrieg tactics again, and German forces overwhelmed French. Germany went further and captured Paris on 14 June. France Surrender on 22 June and Germany took control over France, most of France. This act also violated and broke agreements of Germany which were made in Treaty of Versailles.

Pearl Harbor

On December 7th, 1941, Japan launched a surprised attack on U.S Pacific Fleet at its naval base which was located at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. Marshal Admiral of the Imperial Japanese Navy Isoroku Yamamoto planned the attack a strike on the Pacific Fleet to prevent attack by disabling the enemy. The attack was a brutal and violent surprise that changed the direction of World War II. Japan attacked Unite states because they wanted to cripple the U.S. Pacific Fleet and gain time to conquer Southeast Asia. They planned to eliminate the US Pacific Fleet as a threat and to force the United States to negotiate a peace that would allow Japan to continue its expansionist policies. This act caused death of over 2,400 Americans and over 1,178 wounded Americans. Before this attack, United States was a neutral country in WWII. This attack led to the cause of United States to declare war on Japan and jumping into WWII.

Battle of Britain

After the defeat of France by Hitler, he wanted to conquer Britian too. To invade and conquer Britian he destroyed the RAF (Royal Air Force) of British to gain control of air forces. Germany began to bomb British cities and airfields in the summer of 1940. This started the Battle of Britian. The German air forces attacked and bombed London and other cities leading to massive weakness in RAF. British Air forces had radars which helped them to detect incoming German attacks. It was difficult for Germany to keep up with them because the war was leading to nothing so, after months of attacks Hitler gave up on the idea of conquering Britain. This is also the first air defeat of Hitler's attack in the war.

German Invasion of Soviet Union/Battle of Stalingrad

Germany and Soviet Union signed a non-aggression pact in 1939 which was a promise that they will not attack each other. But Germany launched a surprise attack on June 22. This attack on them was called Operation Barbarossa. Germany sent millions of tanks, soldiers, and air forces to attack them. This is the largest land invasion in history. When Germany reached a city called Stalingrad during this attack, they had difficulties fighting Soviet army. The Battle of Stalingrad was long and brutal because it involved heavy bombing and heavy gun firing. During the winter time, Soviet army was able to surround and beat the Germans. This battle lead to Germany's first land major defeat and this led to the outcome as victory of Soviet over German that marked a turning point in WW2.

D-Day

One main event of World War II was D-day. Allied forces from US, Britain, Canada, and other countries launched largest plan of invasion in history on France, which was led by the control of German army. The allied forces took months of planning and were fake ambush to German trying to trick them that they would attack from this side. At last, on the day of invasion the allied forces were able to break through the defenses. The outcome of this event was successful marking the loss of Germany and brought closer to the victory of allied forces in Europe.

Dropping of atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki

One main event of WW2 was the dropping of atomic bombs on Japan cities Hiroshima and Nagasaki by the US. To end the war in the Pacific region, the U.S used powerful weapons such as atomic bombs. On August 6, 1945, the first bomb was dropped on Hiroshima which on the spot killed 10,000 people. 3 days right after atomic bomb attack on Hiroshima, On August 9 a second shot of bomb was dropped on Nagasaki leading to more destruction in Japan. This led to surrendering of Japan to U.S. The outcome of this event was the official end of WW2.
