If I could change the title, I would make the title "Unique" This title also related to the story because he is special and different in his own way. August won an important if not the most important award at graduation."

"Wonder," the realistic fiction novel, by RJ Palacio, took place at Beecher Prep, the school, and at August's house. I believe that the school is the most important setting because that’s where most of August's part takes place. August's school is very welcoming. For example, when August went to school to meet a few people, about a month before school started, Mr. Tushman, the principle said "Hi August. It's a pleasure to meet you" (14). At the beginning of the, August got bullied and no-one wanted to go near him, but at the end, everyone loved August and didn’t care about his face. His home environment is loving and comfortable. His parents love August and do everything for him, and Via protects August. In conclusion, the story takes place at the school and at his house.

The main character also known as the protagonist in the realistic fiction novel, "Wonder," is August Pullman. Although August has a face deformity, he is super smart even though he was home schooled up until 5th grade. Two character traits that describe August are brave and confident. For example, August was brave enough to go to school. He was asked "what’s up with your face..." (29) by Julian but still wanted to go to school, and he was confident that he would make more friends like Jack. In conclusion, August is brave and confident.

Julian, is the antagonist of the realistic fiction novel "Wonder" written by RJ Palacio. He is selfish and dishonest. For example, in the story, Julian starts a plague August and Jack to try and stop August from making friends. Julian is dishonest because, in the story, "Julian started spreading this rumor that Jack hired some "hit man" to "get" him, Henry, and Miles" (209). This wasn’t true, which shows Julian is dishonest.

The point of "Wonder" written by RJ Palacio is written in first person point of view, helped me to understand the feelings of multiple characters, and create a bigger more detailed image of what is going on, and most importantly, it helped me to understand why the characters because I get to get a better understanding of the characters in the story. For example, in Augusts part, he says "It's only 9 o'clock mom!" (255), we get to understand how August is feeling in that situation.

In the realistic fiction novel "Wonder," by RJ Palacio there are various themes. One theme is don’t judge a boy by his face. This relates to “Wonder” because August has a face deformity, and in the beginning of the story, no-one wants to go near August, touch August, or even talk to August. For example, "I noticed two kids sharing a seat when the seat right next to me was open" (39). This shows, that no-one wanted to go near August. At the end however, August's classmates realized that August is just a normal boy, and no-one cared about how he looked. For example, "... it kind of felt like everyone wanted to get close to me" (308)" In conclusion, that’s why don’t judge a boy by his face is the theme.

Another theme of the novel "Wonder" is when given the choice between being right or being kind, choose kind. This relates to "Wonder", the realistic fiction novel written by RJ Palacio, because all the people at Beecher Prep have to make the decision to either be kind or be right when speaking to August or anyone else in the school. For example, when Julian asked August "what's up with your face..." (29), he wasn't being kind, he chose to be "right" by doing the wrong thing. In conclusion, another theme for "Wonder," is when given the choice between either being right or being kind, choose kind.

.

At the end of "Wonder," the realistic fiction novel, written by RJ Palacio, August got an award at graduation, and all his classmates and the parents stood up to give him a standing ovation. I liked this ending because I thought it was exciting. I also liked how August got an award for just being himself. He said, "Only I know that I'm that person to other people, maybe every person in this auditorium" (306). He didn't have to bully someone to get to the position he is now! If I could choose an ending for the novel, I would have August make a realization statement. For example, August would say something like this, "At the beginning of the school year, no-one wanted to touch me, come near me, or even talk to me, but now I have people passing me in the halls patting me on the back, or giving me a high-five. I know why they are doing this, and I really appreciate having people do that, because it makes me wonder do they now see me as a normal kid?" I think August will have a great school year next year since Julian left! Yes, he will have a good school year, but I also think that there will be a new group of students who aren't used to Augusts face and will be mean to him. I think that Jack and a few others will stand up for August, but everyone else will be scared to. In conclusion, I like the ending of wonder, but I would have ended it with a realization statement.

"Do you want to buy this dog?" The next thing I knew I was walking home with Nate Pullman. So from that moment on, I was a part of the Pullman family. As I walked up the stairs, I smelt something. When Nate opened the door, they made it obvious that the smell was me. Nate brought me to this weird place that I never saw before. There was all different animals, and they were also going to get treated. About 15 minutes after we arrived, I was in a room. A lady asked Nate what the problem was, and he said "she smells." The person brought me to a tub and put soap and water into it. She began to scrub, and within 10 minutes, I was out the door, clean, and fresh. When I got back home, everyone was in the same spots. The boy and girl on the floor and the mom on the couch. I walked over to the boy and the girl and they began to pet me. Nate and the mom came over, and they began to pet me as well. I licked all their faces but the boys felt different. I didn't care, because I was just happy that I was getting loved!

I would rate this book a five out of 5 star rating. In "Wonder," August Pullman is the main character. He has a face deformity and was home schooled up until fifth grade. He didn't have any friends going into fifth grade, except Jack and Charlotte. Julian however is a bully and goes against August in the story. A few days before graduation, August was told that Julian left Beecher prep. When graduation came around, August won the most valuable award. August felt that everyone wanted to be his friend. He said, "..,it kind of felt like everyone wanted to get closed to me" (308). The author, tried to teach the lesson, don't judge a boy by his face. I like how she used many different characters perspectives but feel she could have added a little more detail. I loved this book because I like that In the end August felt that everyone didn't care about his face. I also liked how RJ Palacio used multiple characters perspectives in the book. I would recommend this book to ages 9-14. I would recommend this book to others because, I feel that it's a book everyone can relate to because I feel that everyone has seen a kid like August and may not have reacted the "right" way. In conclusion, I loved the book "Wonder," and would give it a 5 of 5 star rating.
