HOUSING DURING POST WAR:

Housing at the end of the war was considered inadequate in quantity and quality. The war had damaged and impacted the quality of housing and obsolete housing had been embarked for demolishment.Housing has also aimed to prevent diseases from spreading because of over crowding, bad sanitation and inadequate facilities for the preparation of food and pollution of homes from adjacent factories.Housing was aimed to provide an environment which was spiritually fulfilling, creating harmony between people and their surroundings, freeing their communities from the misery of poor housing. This was proposed in sync with the political movement away from unsanitary ,overcrowded slums.Residents were also reluctant to leave their slums to move into high-rise buildings before, the Bukit Ho Swee fire. The fire razed 400 000 square metres of land, killing 4 people and leaving 16000 homeless .The government quickly responded by building many high rise buildings to house the poor and soon many people were moving from their slums to the high-rise buildings.[yao jing, adiba]

https://www.designingbuildings.co.uk/wiki/British_post-war_mass_housing

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2cjPgNBNeLU

After the initial rush to mass-build flats in the 1960s however, different simulation began to appear in subsequent decades, initially only through subtle variations such as coloured tiles, but which became full-scaled multi-coloured paintwork complete with bright motifs from the 1990s. After several elaborate designs, some of which subsequently presented logistical headaches during maintenance, more subdued and contemporary designs began to emerge from the 2000s.
