They looked much happier in the photos before the move when they were able to live their lives in peace. The children also looked unhappy and were likely confused about why they had to move away. The barracks that the families had to stay in were also very old and were formerly stalls used for horses. This remined me of a mix of two things, one the forced branding of Jews during the Holocost so they were esaily identifiable and the sepreation and branding of enslaved people while being sold. Many children were at school or with their families, while adults were at their businesses. 

After the evacuation of Japanese-Americans had been ordered, many citizens and non-citizens had to wait hours in lines to get paperwork done, as well as getting property protected. There are also countless amounts of luggage everywhere, with many children and adults waiting to get on the train. Throughout the photos, no one looks very happy with their current situation. It's so true that white Americans will always be the default for what makes one an "American". Despite our country going to war with a number of countries, Axis powers etc, we chose to only "relocate" Japanese Americans, and not other "white" immigrants and their descendants. They were treated like genuine prisoners of war despite not doing anything wrong. I also thought it was very sad to see how the Japanese children had to experience their youth within the internment camps. The community trying their best to retain some normalcy after being stripped of their homes was also very brave. There was a photo of a man who was just standing there because he didn't know what to do with himself, this harsh transition has led him to "while away the hours." I also saw many photos of families and children, these photos were horrifying as they were living in barracks, former horse stables, and the mess halls didn't seem adequate as well as the overall sanitary conditions looked poor. The United States treated thousands of citizens as enemies simply because of ethnicity. They uprooted entire towns and shoved thousands of lives in two horse stables. I think it's ironic the US depicted this as a humaine act when in reality it was a demeaning experience. Propaganda, such as the film, told people that these relocated people were given nice houses and endless resources when in reality they had very little. The pictures, like the last one, were impounded to keep up appearances and to keep the general masses happy and unaware of the true situation.
