Karina here.

Just wondering how long the students took to fill up their empathy map for example? Was it classwork or homework? Did they go beyond adjectives and short descriptors?

Would you recommend, for example, suggested answers (eg. emotive words) for them to tick as some students may struggle to put their thoughts down? Maybe 2-3 suggested ideas?

I find NA students have ideas but lack the language to express their ideas. Checkboxes may push them to think deeper on Maslow's hierachy (eg. analysis and evaluation).

The idea to get the students to pick out anachronisms from visuals is useful. Illustrations actually pack a lot of information. They love anime and are really a visual generation. Being only 12-13, building observational skills is very important for them when they do political cartoons later. Any way of sharing these drawings resources with us? (It would be good to credit the original artists.)

Thank you, Samuel for sharing how you brought a slice of Berlin to your history classroom.

I like how you had tiered tasks, from simple tasks to follow-up tasks on historical thinking, prompting students to consider how the Berlin Wall was a physical divide and also divided lives.

One variation I might make to your lesson idea would be the inclusion of the German Reichstag. There would be opportunities for students to consider the symbolism of the Reichstag during Nazi Germany and after it's reconstruction. The design of the Dome of the Reichstag could be another talking point about Germany democracy.

Just wondering, would it be possible to have an avenue maybe in future where schools, if they dont mind, can share created learning journeys that we can perhaps implement or modify.
