A disability is a mental or physical aspect that affects a person's major part of their life, but it also limits their ability to do a task part of anyways everyday life. Disabilities can impact the way you think and the way you move. “Disability is a term of art with different specialized meanings, each developed for the particular policy or program that uses it. How we conceptualize disability shifts relative to the methodologies used to learn about it and the contexts in which it is addressed. The criteria for judging people to be disabled likewise fluctuate over time and across different social and cultural contexts."(AMA Journal of Ethics) This is what a disability is we acknowledge disability as it only having one meaning when it can in reality it has multiple.

Some common misconception that we hold for disabled people is that their disability has to be visible for them to have one. One Stereotype is that we have to pity them because they can't do as much as us.

In the Crip camp doc. we watched in class Judy said and I quote, "Don't shake your head in agreement when you don't know what we are talking about." We agree with them but we don't actually understand them.

What can we do better moving forward? What do we need to keep thinking about?

We can do better by making sure we make them feel whole and not like a charity case. Another thing tat can be done is that we can make more place accessible for those with disabilities so we can make their lives like ours easy. In the Crip Camp documentary they were climbing the stairs to make a point and fight for what exactly they stand for. I believe that they shouldn't have to fight that hard to make a point and rights and that going/ moving forward we need to give them what they deserve and that's our kindness.
This can also be connected to a current issue, Disabled right in an very short website it talks about what issues people with disabilities face, 70% of public school students who are physically restrained or secluded have disabilities. 48% of people with disabilities have a personal income of $15,000 or less. These are just what they know people with disabilities don't get the opportunities to achieve something that pushes them forward to be the best they can be and moving forward we need to change how we think because we may think that they can't do it but in reality they most likely can.

I loved the documentary. It portrayed disabled people as people who are just like us just with something different about them, they have fun just like us and enjoy their lives. It also made me think that disabled people are treated terrible by society because they need more help than others, they are made to be more pushed out from society and aren't treated right at all.
