In 1939, the Soviet Union signed the nonaggression pact and it was so the countries had a piece treaty and could not attack each other. In September of 1939 Hitler sent the German army into Poland and the Soviets would invade weeks later, Hitler was taking it too far.

Germany Invades France

The Germans invaded France and invaded Paris and seized them in June of 1940. This lead to the French signing an armistice that divided France into two regions. while Germany had control some of the French decided to fight on.

British and Germany fought in the Battle of Britain. This war was mainly fought out of the air and the two air forces fighting hard. German attempted to bomb Britain in hope of a surrender but Britain did not leading to Hitler suspending further attacks.

After the death of the first elected president in China Sun Yat-sen. Chiang Kai-shek now had the power and he was faced with the CCP and Mao who was trying to take over China with communism. By the end of this government conflict China had bigger problems to take care of (Japan).

When Japanese warplanes sank the U.S. gunboat Panay on Chinas Yangtze river it killed 3 Americans and left about 30 hurt. This was the start of tensions Roosevelt condemned the attack but Japan apologized and the were at peace. Until U.S.A pulled back on trade with Japan in effort to slow down their expansion.
