With having not discussed in advance the songs we were going to learn and perform during the practice session: the lesson mostly consisted of learning new techniques for our chosen songs. Firstly, we decided to pick two songs from Mike's list during the start of the session (Aeroplanes, Red Hot Chilli Peppers & Jamming, Bob Marley); leading to the both of us concentrating on looping the originals to begin to memorise the structure of the chord/note sequence of the instruments in the songs.

We chose these songs as we thought the techniques used in both are very contrasting, enabling us to experiment with a variety of skills required to perform them, developing our current musical abilities. Both me and Adam aren't overly confident musicians when it comes to improvising a song without looking through the tabs; however, once we had learnt the tabs/chord sequence of Jamming, we began to add our own interpretations to enable us to incorporate our own solo - in an attempt to meet the subject's criteria.

Unfortunately being unable to successfully learn our other song choice (Aeroplanes), to try to ensure the next session would be a little more organised than the previous, we decided we would practice/learn the songs during our own time, to (hopefully) be ready to record and practice as a duo.

The simplicity of the song's structure - due to the repetition of the same chord sequence, throughout - caused learning the sequence to not be much of a challenge. However, with us just working together as a duo, it was difficult to produce an admirable piece of work, due to the lack of instruments we had to work with.

'Jamming' is very percussion-based; leading to me, instead, performing the melody on the keyboard, in an attempt to enhance the quality and fullness of our song. Deciding to create a final piece much alike the original - with also not having much time to experiment - we learnt the song in the same key: the key of B.

Without a vocalist, our version did sound rather bland; however, it enabled me to experiment with an instrument I don't usually play (slightly developing my keyboard skills). However, hopefully by the next session - with practice - I will have developed my keyboard/piano skills much more in regards to adding my own quirks to the original version.

During this session, we were able to practice Jamming as a three-piece and had an unofficial recording taken of our progress. In response to my playing, compared to Session 1's video log and my out-of-hours practice, I'm now able to add minor fills into my playing, which is a minor - yet effective - improvement to the song. An improvement is needed to be made in regards to my timing and missing notes sporadically throughout the song and our presentation as performers was a little slack; however, for saying this was the first performance we'd made, with only practicing once with a vocalist, it was a good starting point.

In comparison to the previous two videos of me attempting to play Jamming, it's clear to see I was able to develop my technical skills through a series of practices. Attempt No.1 was the very first recording of me playing the keys to Jamming. Admittedly, it was a bit of a shambles; however it gave me something to work from.

Technicalities and Improvements

Chord Transitions: My technique as a keys player lacked fluency. I found, due to being unfamiliar with simple chords on the keyboard, my transitions between the chords in the song reflected my inability to play correctly at the time. However, as the sessions progressed, I was able to continue running through the song; therefore, this allowed me to develop my transitions from chord to chord, to eventually gain the ability to at the same time play octaves relevant to the key of the song with my other hand. I believe the octaves added more depth and tonality to my playing, through adding more bass-heavy notes to the song.

By the time it reached the 'Out-Of-Hours Performance' footage, I was able to fluently move from chord to chord while also playing the chords in a simultaneous manner, in an attempt to make the song a little more easy-listening for those watching.

Decorative Technicalities: During the 'Final Recording' of Jamming, I had been previously practicing various decorative features to add to my playing and enhance the quality of the song and was eventually able to to add a couple of notes at the end of the chord sequence to decorate our cover. I practiced this during out of hours; however, during the final performance - with not actually running through the sequence with Adam's bass - I screwed up an awful lot in regards to my timing and fluently incorporating the decorative notes.

Final Recording:

Compared to previous attempts to record, our final recording proved to be much more successful. Our performance as a three-piece was well-formed, and my timing provided little issue throughout the song (mainly due to the fact we had an extra percussion incorporated into our cover, to provide an element of rhythm).
In regards to the style we played in, we made an attempt to incorporate techniques with great resemblance to Reggae - keeping our cover close to the original version. By doing this, we played by the timing of

However, as I continued to practice, I was able not only improve my transitions from each chord, while messing around with the
