The Lebron James "Training Day" commercial for NIKE was genius. Everything that went into it was perfect. It is one of those commercials that people dont forget. It is a prime example of creativity, and excellent advertising.

In Superbowl XL, the Steelers ran a reverse to Antwaan Randle El, who then threw a touchdown to Hines Ward. This play was really creative, and I will never forget it.

With 1:1 happening this year, it has replaced some of the old ways of teaching. Especially in the elementary and middle school with the kids all having access to an iPad. More projects and assignments are web based. It has reduced the use of textbooks and even computer labs.

With more and more people getting smart phones, it has reduced the use of land lines in some households. Cellphones are becoming more convenient and you can always have them on the go. More towers are being put up to increase cellphone service, which could at some point eliminate the need for land lines all together.

Chocolate chip cookies: One day someone accidentally got chocolate in their cookies and bam, the most delicious thing ever was created.

Mechanical anesthesiologist: Apparently their is a machine that can do an anesthesiologists' job cheaper. Used for low-medium sedation.

Interesting innovation:

Apparently some cancers' (like non-Hodgkins lymphoma) uncontrolled growth has been linked to the protein, BTK. When patients were given BTK blocking drugs, it stopped growth without harming anything else.

Amazon's new drones that can deliver packages within a half an hour can definitely be described as disruptive, after a while, we might not need any UPS or FedEx delivery people anymore. It could get so far to that one day everything can be brought to your door that same day by a drone.

This MIT prank is very creative and took quite a bit of skill. Students at MIT disassembled and reassembled a campus police car and placed it on the roof. To pull of this prank it took a large amount of creativity and collaboration. This prank also required some out of the box thinking and it makes your average prank seem pretty mediocre.

I think a good example of disruptive innovation would be the built-in cameras on smartphones. I remember in middle school I wanted my own camera so bad. Now that I have an iPhone, having a camera seems unnecessary. I can't remember the last time I took a picture with an actual camera.

It was no one special, just an average nurse, who was this person's inspiration for becoming a CNA. When this kid was hospitalized for three weeks as a child, they made a smart remark about how that hotel was horrible. They stuck things in them and there wasn't even a chocolate on their pillow. Then, every night after that while they were there, that nurse went in there and put a chocolate on their pillow, so it would be there when they woke up. That's pretty awesome.

Wanelo: It's an app on my iPhone kind of

like pinterest except you can actually buy the stuff

right on the website. It's creative because you don't

have to go to each of the different websites to find

stuff, instead you can just look at it all from the

same site or app!

Zappos because instead of waiting for 7 day shipping

from a normal store, you can go to Zappos and get the

same product, maybe cheaper and get free shipping that will

come quicker than an average store.

Meta - Space-glasses: Are like Google Glass, but so many times better. The best part is that you can go and buy them today for the price of the I pad Air.

Netflix, although nice to have and to use is a terribly disruptive innovation, because it wastes so much time that should be spent doing homework. It is slowly puting movier rental places out of bussness.

Commercial flight was a disruptive innovation to the travel

industry; it almost completely took away the passenger train

service and boat service. Amtrak still exists, and yes, there are

cruise ships, but airplanes are a quicker way of travel.

Netflix has not only changed the way we live our life (because lets face it, most of us spend half our time on it), it has also brought movie stores and dvd's to a near end. It is no longer needed to go in and buy/rent a movie when we have the option of doing so for free, right on our very own T.V.
