Hi everyone! My name is Mikayla Perry, and I’m from Prince George’s County, Maryland. I earned a two-year degree in Cybersecurity and a bachelor’s degree in information technology. After working in the government for a year, I realized something was missing and made the switch to pursue teaching.

Alongside teaching, I also work as a behavior technician in the afternoons and evenings, where I support individuals with special needs. This role has deepened my passion for helping others grow.

A fun fact about me is that I have a fraternal twin sister

Being both a special education teacher and a behavior technician has been such a rewarding journey. For the past two years, I've had the privilege of teaching English and History to students grades 9-11, and every day brings new lessons, not just for my students, but for me as well. I truly enjoy the connections I’ve built in the classroom and the meaningful impact I’ve been able to make in such a short time. Whether I’m guiding a class discussion or supporting individuals with special needs in the afternoons, I find so much joy in helping others grow, feel seen, and succeed.

In my free time, I love spending quality moments with my family and friends, whether we’re relaxing at home or out making memories together. Traveling is one of my favorite ways to unwind. I enjoy taking vacations to new places and soaking in different experiences. I also have a creative side and find joy in doing hair, which lets me express myself in fun and unique ways. I’m always up for a new adventure, and next on my local bucket list is to go fishing and take a road trip in an RV. I’m excited to see where the journey takes me, literally and figuratively!
