Discipline: Nutrition & Food Science

This Learning Journey will expose students to various facilities in TP School of Applied Science. This includes a bistro managed by the Diploma of Food Science & Nutrition, culinary theatre, sensory food labs, and various food prep and cooking kitchens. I find the experience interesting. I love baking despite rarely doing it. My favourite part is when we went into the kitchen and saw different pastries and cooking tools

We need to know basic skills such as slicing, the names of different tools, etc

we were toured around the campus to see the kitchens and other rooms that were related to food science.

We need to be able to apply sciences to our cooking and understand how to use various different machines to prepare food.

I learnt the importance of ovens, freezers that are more advanced. It was very fun and nice to explore a polytechnic and know what it is like!

1.we toured the campus for applied science and was showed the different kitchens and the appliances such as the freezers and fridges.

2.skills we need is to be able to apply what we learnt into the job such as making food healthier or applying what we know about the appliance to use it to cook.

1.My experience in tp was so fun as I had learn more abt the courses in tp.

we saw many different kitchens for different usages like beverages, ice cream making and kitchens to make asian / western food

Recalled all the different types of machine they used to make different types of food

How milk differs from other types of milk, texture, and skill on finding out water effects. At the cafe, they taught us about it's machines and how cold the freezer was (-18°c). Was very hungry the entire time but regardless pretty standard.

In order to pursue this applied science, I would definitely need discipline to stay focus on doing work instead of getting distracted by the auroma.

The experience was extremely fun. Although I feel that I would enjoy this experience more if they showed us other aspects of diploma such as Veterinary, Chemical Engineering etc. This LJ changed my mind about which course I want to do in poly now. I used to want to do business but now I want to go for Applied Science.
Mr Tan was an amazing lecturer. I learnt that to go for Applied Science I would need perseverance to be able to do well.

T was an xtrene faun experience. Not more than 1 unmarketable tomato. It was interest8jg to lear about how polythechrnics work, as i have previouly had no interest in polys but i fell that this had given me some insight and more chance for thoight provoking discusisosnnsa. thank you!

i find that applied science are very interesting and i learn the difference type of equipments that used to make the dishes eg shepherd pie and fried fish etc

i hope we will have more chance to learn it because i pretty enjoyed it despite at the start there are lots of explaining and talking

- My experience was that it was interesting to see all the different courses and machinery that they had to make food.

I found the experience interesting as we learnt more about culinary sciences instead of the sciences we learn normally.

I learnt deeper into the sciences and how they expand into smaller parts of the subject

at tp, there are many opportunities for you to branch out to other different subjects of interest. while learning more about food science and nutrition, we absorbed more information and clarified more doubts about joining poly and the courses/modules you can choose in year 2 after year 1 of common science programme. today was an insightful day as we went through lots of precautions and machines and procedures.
