They create fake scenarios that pressure you to act fast, like “your account’s at risk” or “limited time offer,” so you don’t have time to double-check. They also pretend to be someone you trust, like a friend, bank, or authority, to lower your guard and they use flattery or promises of easy money to hook you. Basically, they hack your brain’s shortcuts, making you react emotionally instead of logically.

I used to buy in an online marketplace in facebook all the time. After talking much details of the item, I was assured that the seller is real. She was very convincing, has so much knowledge of the item. The seller asked me to send an initial downpayment, after sending, the account can't be messaged. I knew I was scammed when I opened up this to my friend and she had the same encounter with that very same account. She also sent downpayment and couldn't message the account after.
