Rocky IV reflected the evolution of the 1980s because it brought into consideration all the fear Americans were feeling from the Russians and Ronald Reagan's behavior. It also showed the tension between the two countries and how each country believed they were better.

This quote was at the very end of the movie and it shows the change that had happened between Russia and America during all of the 1980s. “During this fight, I've seen a lot of changing, in the way you feel about me, and in the way I feel about you. In here, there were two guys killing each other, but I guess that's better than twenty million. I guess what I'm trying to say, is that if I can change, and you can change, everybody can change!” The audience in Russia went from hating Rocky to cheering for him to win in the end. This totally made the end of the movie and wrapped up the final state between Russia and America.

“I can't be defeated. I beat all men. Someday, I will beat a real champion. If he dies, he dies.” This quote is said by Ivan Drago the Russian boxer. The quote represents the way Americans saw Russians in the early 1980's. We saw them as people who were cruel and had no emotions or care for anything. If they died or got blown up they wouldn't care and they are just cruel serious people with no room for jokes. When this quote is said Drago is talking about Apollo and their big exposition ,match which is only supposed to be friendly. Drago end up killing Apollo in the fight from how strong he is.

While fighting like mad men out in the boxing ring Drago was finally bleeding from one of Rocky big punches. "You Cut him! You HURT him! You see. You see. He's not a Machine, He's a Man!" said by Duke. Implying Drago was a human and he shed real blood and wasn't just a monster. The fear some Americans were having at the time period were that Russians had no care in they went into war or not cause they don't have feelings. At least that is what everyone though about them, however, as time progressed people in the mid 1980's realized not all Russians were inhumane. Some had families and lives they had built that they didn't want to destroy and this quote embodies those people and proves they exist.

This was the first presidential news conference and Ronald Reagan quoted "The Soviet leaders have openly and publicly declared that the only morality they recognize is that which will further their cause, which is world revolution." As he talks very negativity about the Russians he is kind of acting like an antagonist and making more unnecessary tension between the two countries. Many people believed though he didn't want war the way he talked and thought it would cause an unwanted war.

At Brandenburg Gate in West Berlin Ronald Reagan asked Gorbachev to make it known he wants Peace. "Mr. Gorbachev open this gate. Mr. Gorbachev let down this wall." This lead for them to sign a treaty that would actually reduce the number of nuclear missiles. He explains his speech on the evil empire and how he hasn't changed since that. However he has notices the change in Russia and he wants to trust them but also verify. The negotiations with the soviet union saved his presidency. This was a big step for the two countries coming together. He had built this idea that communism is an evil empire for 5 years and now he does not see that or believe that. His views on Russia had changed for the better.

In East Berlin and all over for that matter they were so wrapped up on this new idea and the new reforms that they were getting outrageous and holding different protest and riots. in the documentary they say "The freedom genie got out of the bottle and he couldn't put it back in. The pressure was getting enormous everywhere especially on east Germany. The Berlin wall was knocked down and Czechoslovakia was finally non communist.
