It all started with Erin, the goddess of arguments, when she got upset. She was upset that she could not go to the wedding banquet and that she was always the only one to be left out of everything; Erin decided to cause trouble. She threw out an apple that said "for the fairest" which meant that the goddesses would all argue over who was the prettiest.

The three goddesses that the argument came down to (Athena, Hera, Aphrodite) all went to Zeus for him to decide once and for all; he brilliantly refused to participate.

Paris was a prince, but he tended to his fathers animals. He did this because it was in the prophecy that Paris would destroy his father's kingdom; his father tried to prevent this at all costs. When the goddesses arrived, they were to present him with bribes and he would pick the prettiest based off the bribe he wanted. He chose Aphrodite and he bribe; he was to have the most desired woman in the entire world, Helen.

She was desired by every man that ever saw her or had heard of her; her mother's husband had finally picked someone (Menelaus) for her and married the two. Because of the promise that Aphrodite made to Paris, it was her job to match him with Helen even though she was married. After Menelaus and Ellen welcomed Aphrodite and Paris into their home, Paris and Aphrodite kidnapped Helen.
