Similarities :

The whale shark and the tiger shark share some key similarities as members of the chondrichthyes class, which means they are both fish rather than mammals like some other sea creatures. Both sharks live in the ocean and play important roles in marine ecosystems, though their habitats may vary. Despite their differences in diet and behavior, these sharks are significant for maintaining the balance of ocean life, making them important species for marine biodiversity.

differences :

However, the whale shark and tiger shark differ greatly in terms of size, appearance, diet, and conservation status. The whale shark is much larger, ranging between 5.5 to 10 meters, and is heavier, weighing up to 18 tonnes, while the tiger shark is shorter at 3 to 4.2 meters and weighs only 0.86 tonnes. The whale shark has a grey-blue body with white spots, whereas the tiger shark is grey-brown with distinctive dark stripes. In terms of diet, whale sharks are filter feeders, consuming plankton and small sea animals, while tiger sharks are carnivorous, preying on larger animals like tuna, dolphins, and turtles. While the whale shark is currently endangered, there have been no recorded attacks on humans. In contrast, tiger sharks are not at risk of extinction but have been responsible for numerous attacks on humans.

Simillarities :

Both type of tiger shark and whale shark are chondrichthyes as well as live in the ocean.

Differences:

The whale shark and tiger shark, while both ocean-dwelling chondrichthyes, have key differences. Both are fish, but the whale shark is much larger, growing up to 10 meters, whereas the tiger shark only reaches about 4.2 meters. The whale shark weighs up to 18 tonnes, while the tiger shark is much lighter at 0.86 tonnes. The whale shark has a grey-blue color with white spots, whereas the tiger shark is grey-brown with darker stripes. Neither hunts large prey, but the whale shark eats plankton, while the tiger shark feeds on tuna, dolphins, and turtles. Lastly, the whale shark is endangered but has no recorded attacks on humans, while the tiger shark is not at risk and has attacked humans.

Similarities

Both the whale and tiger sharks are live in the ocean. These whales are types of fish called “Chondrichthyes” that means they have cartilage instead of bones in their skeletons.

Differences

The whale and tiger sharks vary in color, size and what they eat.

The whale sharks are larger than the tiger sharks. Whale sharks are 5 to 10m long with long tail and wide fins while tiger sharks are 3 to 4.2m with short tail and fins. For size, the whale sharks are heavier weighing 18 tonnes while the tiger sharks 0.86 tonnes. For color, whale shark is grey-blue with white stomach and spots, whereas the tiger shark is grey-brown with white stomach and darker grey-brown stripes. Whale sharks eat small animals like plankton and krill, but tiger sharks eat bigger animals like tuna, dolphins and turtles. They also differ in how dangerous they are to human life, many reports show that the tiger sharks attack humans, but the whale sharks have no recorded attacks on humans. However, whale sharks are currently endangered, but no risk of extinction for the life of tiger whales.

The whale shark is much larger, measuring 5.5 to 10 meters, while the tiger shark is shorter at 3 to 4.2 meters. The whale shark is grey-blue with white spots and feeds on plankton, making it harmless to humans, whereas the tiger shark is grey-brown with darker stripes and preys on larger animals, with many reports of attacks on humans.
