In short, welcome back everyone! I hope everyone had a happy new year and an amazing break. I know 2025 is scary but we can conquer anything together. Even admin can't stop us, LOL.

Also, no questions of why this is being written at 1:30am. I can't sleep.

If you've texted me, I can't really access it that well. I have an old app on my (old) phone thats closed and I dont even have it on my (newer/current/MIA) phone right now. Plus, my old phone lags like crazy at times and the texting stuff will glitch from time to time (again, cause the app is not meant to even exist atp rn). Also also, I have none of the numbers from people I met AFTER transferring phones (so like 2020?) saved to the old phone.

So I probably really cant text yall back that well until Friday or so.

However thank you to Zoey[???] who I think heard I got a haircut and said it was stunning and she missed it lol.

Again I absolutely PROMISE im not ignoring you. I just hate texting random numbers or mistaking people for another person, etc. And lag issues. Even texting parents feels like a chore when you have to wait for the keyboard to register and type what you already typed 10 seconds prior /j

And you know the best part about it? Usually the 11 balls of yarn needed for this would cost a whopping 110$! But my yarn store was having a MASSIVE sale...and I got all the materials for only 38$!

The good part about today is that its Friday-eve! And not just any Friday-eve, but basically a special one. You see, we have a three day weekend! Personally, Im going to sit back and relax and wish that we were back to Winter break. (Or honestly, skipped ahead to Summer break!)

Well anyway, I guess my question with that is...How is everyone feeling about their courses? Like..What do you like / dislike? I guess my curosity especially lies with this semesters English 3 class. How do you feel even after witnessing all the people last semester hate on it? Can you see why they did or no?

If you feel good, thats AMAZING! I'm glad! If you dislike it, yeah. We were all right there with you and still are.

I mean personally some of my favorites so far have been American Government and Fundamentals of Web Development. My least favorite has clearly already been expressed..

So first of all, RECAP!

Mrs. E has made a point that Admin keeps shutting her every idea down following the J (ykwho) situation. They've split up bookclub, split PBL, we cant contact the middle school practically. Not that we wish too..But the reasoning is dumb. We couldnt even really bring younger siblings on fieldtrips if im right?? We're split so we cant webmail them, the chats in other classes are shut on private (which they shouldve been originally but whatever), etc. Anyway the point is; She's scared atp to even do a talent show because of what they'd do. They've tried to, actually, take highschool from her all together. She had to fight to even keep bookclub broken up. If Im correct, she even cried over it.

Now I know this isnt our business really. I know we shouldn't get involved. But she's done EVERYTHING for us. And I feel like she doesnt deserve this at all. She never did anything wrong??? Nor did we. Why are all of us getting punished? So I got to thinking during the meeting, and I took Rylie's idea into the equation.

What if we take this driving question, "What can we do?", and run with it. What if we..try and involve parents? This IS unfair. And I dont want to get her in more trouble by trying to advocate for her but I dont want her to be scared, as a teacher, to let her students have fun. To let others have fun. To be a good person.

I don't know. I guess I'm getting at that we need to try to prove to admin that she's one of our best teachers and she doesn't deserve to be treated this way when she did nothing wrong? Of course we cant just yell at them and say theyre wrong and be mean to them but...We can try to fight for her like she has for us??? I know even if you guys are the ones not in her english class yet or the ones that never will be, you know how kind she is and I guarantee she's helped you in some way.

So, whats your ideas? Anything? Or do you think we should back out and just let it happen? Let it kind of sit and hope they forget so we can move on and continue those talent shows and all one day. Something along those lines.

We're hanging out soon and he mentioned to me that if you go up to the headquarters in Columbia (for SCCA of course) that you can hand them packages and they send them to the teachers. So we were thinkiinnggg what about a teacher care package?

So basically what im saying is in the comments of this post, leave any ideas for stuff you want us to pick up (ex: Any small [dont want to bring a 20lb package!] things like purple flowers [Purkle nosegays]. Yk, self care stuff or references. Anything! Feel free to get creative, just obviously appropriate. You guys know what to do! :)) ]

There will be another part regarding submissions for drawings and another part for photos of you guys holding up messages to her thanking her / saying we love her. You can involve your siblings, family pets, etc. Now again, ONLY if youre comfortable with a photo of you guys going into a frame and being sent to her! Can someone gimme a recap?

The only requirements is that you have access to VRchat and be 15 or older. Its on VR because thats the medium we will be trying to use, and you have to be 15 or above since me and my friends are around 16 so we don't want to play with people who are drastically younger than us.

You don't need to be experienced with The Backrooms or D&D, and we will probably be hosting it on Fridays due to one of the players living in England.

She's finally home

6th grade was the worst grade I've ever been through. Not just school at the time but just..life. I had moved to a new house, everyone was stressed, I just entered middle school, and other pretty personal things. I also didn't have friends. I didn't mind it because I thought I could handle being alone, my head wasnt that bad. I had to deal with myself for my whole life anyway. And ontop of that, I was very introverted. Still am, as crazy as is it is to believe. But when I seen all these kids with their own like..groups? friends? and I was alone and also had no one to tell about the stress I was under, it wasnt...fun. Mrs. E gave me the chance to make friends in 7th grade with bookclub and pbl. Now I dont say this to kind of..rant about my bad decisions. I wanted to thank you guys.

I made Brobutter with, at the time, a very close friend of mine. It was just this..stupid thing based off of a video game that we used in order to kind of make a sort of "group" under. Had all of our, at the time (again), friends. Some of those people are you guys, some I don't even know anymore. And since that, I've seen this group overcome a lot. I now run it alone without her help as we're no longer friends, but I have all of you. And even the people here who aren't in Brobutter, like Dorothy and any Emmy Empire members, I feel honored that people looked at this little group and made their own. I feel its honestly absolutely WILD that I've been told things like "We need to make shirts!" or "Yeah every livelesson I go to, someone knows of or is in Brobutter." The fact this has spread across GRADES baffles me.

So basically, all together, I'm trying to say thank all of you. Brobutter member, close friend, one or neither. I'm glad I got to make this group in-which people joined and made friends. And I'm glad that maybe at some point I inspired others to make them as well, and kind of create this little imaginary world almost lol. Thank all of you for taking it somewhat seriously (as in engaging with it. Of course it isnt meant to be reaalllyy all serious) and for making things like flags, currency's, maps, etc. It means the world to me when it comes down to it.

I've got some news on my crocheted blanket! After 14 HOURS of crocheting the exact same pattern over and over and over, I've finished the 42 squares for the original blanket! YAY! But I when I laid them all out, I realized that the blanket was kind of....small? It was a little more then baby-blanket sized...

So I decided, why not go big or go home?! After all, if I'm going to have this blanket for a long, long time, I might as well be able to use it! I've got all the extra yarn I'll need for the rest of the new and improved 96 square blanket, and already started on crocheting more squares! Heres how big it looks now. I've super happy with the sizing and how its turning out, but I've a long way to go, so wish me luck! :D

If anyone is interested and has a computer, ask me. Just make sure you have a working computer and mic, a quiet environment and are older than 15 since I don't want to play with people my sister's age when doing a somewhat mature game.

1) I haven't written a story in a year or two. This isn't so much of a problem that its getting in my way,the thing I'm having to rediscover a style while doing this. 2) I'm very indecisive with what plotline to go with, what perspective, what...everything to go with. And 3) I have no idea how to condense a balanced, interesting story line into 500 words. Whoever I start writing, I'll get an introduction I like and realize its like 300 words! How am I supposed to write like this?

I think all of the Middle Schoolers at SCCA just got invited to bookclub! This is awesome, seeing as how middle school bookclub (we need an acronym for that pronto) has about eight students at the moment. Super excited to see all the new faces coming soon to bookclub!!

HOWEVER!

I've been told, jokingly and seriously, that Brobutter needs a sort of..merch? Shirts were always an idea. I mean we have a flag, we have cheeseballs, we have...basically claimed so many things as our own. But what shows it? What could I make with little cost to unite us? Well..I won't say exactly what I've come up with but I will say this.

BROBUTTER IS GETTING ITS VERY OWN MERCH! :))

Whatever it may be is personalized per person. Your roles will be on it and it will be unique to you.

About getting it to you guys uhh..I'm still thinking. Ideas are in the works but also some are already made. I've kind of had an interesting weekend- first of all, I'm in the weird stage of getting over a cold and have no voice WHATSOEVER, and secondly, there's a huge 1600 acre wildfire, like, 10 or 15 minutes down the road from us! So yeah, its kind of nerve racking, but no one has been hurt and no houses have been destroyed so far, so its not too bad. It's so weird: you hear about all this stuff in California or somewhere far away, and then it happens practically at your doorstep. Anyways, last night there was smoke everywhere around our house, but now its gone, so hopefully its started to burn out and all will be normal soon!

They stand about 3 feet and weigh almost 51 pounds so nothing compared to a Timber Wolf also known as a Grey Wolf.

These wolves feed off small animals, fruits and vegetables particularly lobeira, whose name means "fruit of the wolf." It is a small tomato-like berry that makes up 50 percent of the maned wolf's diet.

These wolves are nocturnal and prefer to hunt to night in their habitats of central and eastern South America.

These wolves aren't technically wolves nor are they foxes. They are their own species and belong to the genus of canines known as Chrysocyon.

These wolves are found in Alaska, Canada and the northern United States.

The Gray Wolf's average size is 4'3 (50 lbs) but have been recorded to grow up to 6'9 (120 lbs). So yeah- big wolf-.

When it comes to prey they're not really picky. As far as big animals go this includes but not limited to caribou, moose, deer and bison. Smaller animals such as beaver, rabbit, and fish are also on the menu. These wolves are also known to eat berries.

Gray Wolf packs typically have five to eight wolves, but packs with as many as 36 wolves have been reported.

Thankfully unlike a lot of other wolf species the Gray Wolf is on the Least Concern mark of the Conservation Status.

I have made the spontaneous decision to take up a new post- a post that has been requested a few times now and never fulfilled in the tumble weed lore.

I, Button, am going to start as the bookkeeper of the official Tumbleweed lore! As this is a most tedious job, I implore you, the fine members of this family, to send in as much lore as you can into the comments of this post so I may organize it.

However, being a large family as we are, I understand that there is some...intended secrecy in a few topics. If you have any juicy gossi- er.... delicate matters that call for imposed privacy, I will handle these matters very seriously and will make sure that I receive this lore in the most secret of forms through my secret, never revealed padlet that I totally didn't just invent two minutes ago!

As for me, its been raining all night / morning so its pretty...uh.....wet. LOL. Suns still shining though! It is somewhat bittersweet to me because someone in our neighborhood lost their indoor cat so we've been hoping someone else has him and hes not out in the rain rn lol.

Now thats fun and all, sure. Who cares, right? Poachers do. Because the common (Maybe only, but dont quote me on that) way to get amounts of this ivory is..You guessed it, elephants. See, their tusks are made of it. Now, this could very much be a sustainable practice. Take the tusks from dead elephants or just kill less than they reproduce, matching the rate and keeping the ecosystem in order / their numbers the same. But when money comes into play...People go crazy. So obviously, poachers kill FARRR more elephants than they should every year. Actually, they kill about 20,000 a year just for their tusks to send them to an illegal international market so they can be trinkets.

Now incase you forgot the point I'm making here because I ramble FAR too much, I learned something new about this today in Biology. We've been studying food webs and evolution lately, and today it mentioned that elephants now are actually being born without tusks as a result of the frequent poaching. Like..No human interference, they are literally just being born without tusks naturally because of it. And incase you were asking "Well why do they need their tusks in the first place?" Answer is defense (obviously), but also things like gathering food, digging, and pulling bark from trees. They also just protect their trunk, which they use for drinking, breathing, eating, etc.

So uh..yeah. Pretty depressing. (Sorry I rambled a ton about it though LOL)

You all know I mentioned that I was making a line of Brobutter merch. And I still am working on it day by day! (Theres a lot of members afterall!). So the timeline about that, just letting you all know, is throughout the entire year. I know I'm sending some near October, and currently that is the latest date I have prepared. Though I'm not sure when it'll really end and obviously I believe I'll tell people when I ship them and if you don't get them once I tell you like...yk, let me know. But..two things with that.

A. Everyone will get a personal letter going along with the merch. It will be packaged individually by yours truly. It will have a wax seal, planning a logo for that currently. Probably will have our flag on it. So..yeah! Be excited to what yours may say!

B. Now, the set back, I will need each of your addresses. Not each of them exactly..like..Renae already got hers, Jayden got his, Rylie got his....y'know. But others like yours Zoey, and Mere, etc. Now obviously dont just drop your address below this post. Text me, my number or discord work!

Question of the day: if you could have one power, any power, what would you have?

Now for those who stayed and didn't click off because of the sheer fear this topic might induce in some, heres some of my favorite Biology facts!

1. Cyanide! Obviously the normal thought process with it is "yeah. it kills you." But did you ever think why it kills you? See, your cells make this thing called ATP. Adenosine Triphosphate (Adenosine sugar base, tri = three phosphates). Its what they use for energy, and infact they never stop producing it. Day and night. If a cell stops making it, that cell will die. So what does this have to do with cyanide? Well, in the process your cells go through to make ATP, cyanide blocks a part of it so it can't finish the process. So yk...no ATP is being made..your cells begin dying...etc etc, you're dead.

2. Your body keeps up this thing known as homeostasis. Its the state of internal balance maintained by living organisms, meaning we regulate our temperature. And I know you guys probably knew we did that but...Just wanted to mention the cool name it has. Our internal body temperature is precisely 37 degrees celsius, which..to assist all of us...is 98.6 degrees F (which is why they say a fever of 99-100 is mild). Why do we require this specific temperature? The stability of the enzymes in our body! Theyre very particular. And also, you may ask exactly what our some methods we maintain homeostasis. To cool down, we sweat (Or animals pant!). To warm ourselves up, we can shiver (the quick contracting of muscles, generating heat).

3. This one gets into quite a few topics mixed together so bear with me..May get confusing. I'll try to keep it as clear as possible though!. To live, you need glucose. Its a simple sugar that you make energy off of (APT!). Every organism needs it, even plants. The only difference is plants can make their own. We can't. So in order to get it, we eat. Plants complete photosynthesis. How do they do that? well they need a few things. Carbon dixoide and sunlight are two big parts of this. Infact the equation for photosynthesis is:

   6CO2 + 6H2O --> C6H12O + 6CO2

   And now youre like "WOAH! what does all that mean!" Well, it means that carbon dixoide and water, combined with sunlight (that arrow), make oxygen and glucose. The oxygen goes into the air, the glucose is stored in the plant for evergy. Now lets backtrack, carbon dixoide. Its what we exhale, it comes from the air obviously because its a gas. How do plants get this? Well this theres thing on the bottom of plant leaves called a stroma. It has the ability to open and close (per the plants command) and it lets in carbon dixoide. And right now youre probably asking me "So yeah...I learned photosynthesis in elementary school, whats your point?"

   Most plants do this in the daytime. They open their stroma's, get carbon, they have the water and the sun, and theres photosynthesis. But adaption, right? Evolution. Everything can't do it the same way because environments aren't the same. And in comes Cacti. See, in the desert it rarely rains. Cacti are really good about storing whatever water they receive, or can pull from the air, for when they need it. But then again, if they were to open that stoma when the air is so hot, they'd lose water. And without the water, they can't do photosynthesis and they'll die. So what did they evolve to do? Open their stoma's at night. At night, when the suns down and its cooler outside, they take in carbon dixoide and chemically store it (much like they have the water stored). When the sun rises, they begin photosynthesis because now they have all they need without wasting water.

1. In genes, theres modifications and mutations. We're going to be focusing on modifications for this one. This is where scientists take a gene they like in a plant/animal, beneficial or something, and insert it into another plant/animal's DNA. I just found the examples I have here in my notebook to be interesting. One is Spider Goats, which I honestly hadn't even heard of until I learned this. They're goats (duh) with spider-silk genes inserted into their DNA. Theres also glow in the dark mice & fish, which have helped scientists make breakthroughs in research for diseases like cancer, parkinsons, and spinal cord injuries. Not to mention glow in the dark cats have helped with HIV research.

2. Now, theres also the mutation side of things. When cells make new cells, things can go wrong and create parts of your DNA that shouldn't have been there through many different methods. This can also cause many different things. There were two that I found really cool when I learned about it though.

   A. Cane toads. Theyre toads with a gland behind their ears that have a sort of milky toxin. And this toxin will kill almost every animal that eats it. How does it work? The toxin will enter the body and on cells theres this kind of pump that controls electrolytes (going in and out from the cell). When the toxin reaches it, it clogs the pump so no electrolytes can exit or enter, and as the video I watched for this worded it, it "wreaks havoc throughout the animals entire body", and the animal dies. Now you're probably sitting here like "So the toxin would be the mutation? No actually! The mutation comes in when animals like snakes, lizards, or hedgehogs try to eat the toad. Because of a type of mutation known as point mutations, those pumps on their cells that I mentioned have an altered shape and stickiness. Meaning if they eat the toad, the toxin cant clog the pump because it isn't formed how its used to. This means theyre immune to the toxin.

   B. And again, snakes! Different type of mutation. DNA has different bases, and those bond together in very specific ways. Guanine bonds to Cytosine, and Adenine bonds to Thymine. If that order is disturbed whatsoever, a mutation forms. This way is called duplication. Which is where a base can be doubled or an entire gene strand can be duplicated. Theres a few examples of this and I can go over them if you want to hear, but the main cool one involves a type of snake called the Australian Rough Scaled snake. In our blood we have a thing known as Factor X (said like 10, but roman numerals so). Its dormant and doesn't do a single thing unless we cut a blood vessel. Once cut, the damaged tissue sends out chemicals that active Factor X, which then clots your blood in the area of the damaged blood vessel and you heal. And see, it isnt just us that have this. Many animals do. Like...snakes! So obviously its meant as a "Oh no, Im injured!" and you heal. But that snake I mentioned earlier developed a duplication mutation involving Factor X. So instead of just being in the blood for the animals own benefit, its also in the snakes venom! And also, in the venom, Factor X is already activated. So when the snake bites say...a rabbit? Factor X enters the rabbits blood stream. And what is it best at? Clotting.....So yeah, you can imagine how that works. RIP rabbit.

I hope all of you guys are having a good morning so far! I'm far too lazy right now to do it, and I need to sleep since I'm getting up at like..6am, but I just want to say that I'll post Biology #3 tomorrow! :) (Or..today?). This leads me to my question...

What topics would you like to learn more about? As in like...Biology #3 is going to revolve around the final things I haven't mentioned that they teach you in the course. Honestly it might need to be a google doc if I rant too much. But what I'm asking you is what questions do you have for me that I can answer in maybe a Biology #4?

TW/Contains: mention of Cancer/disease, invasive species, viruses, moths/animals, cell membranes, etc.

1. Ever thought in depth about what cancer is? Like..its a disease and its very harmful, but what does it do? In your body, your cells are constantly dividing. This means that one cell becomes two because they duplicate their DNA and split in half. Now obviously your body has a rate for this at which old cells die, newer cells duplicate, etc. So everythings always in balance. Cancer, however, is the uncontrolled constant over duplication of your cells. It has no regulation. This is usually caused by mutations. Like for example, smoking causes mutations in the cells that reside in your lungs, causing lung cancer. Oh, and a tumor is just a mass of those cells clumped together. Ontop of that, you're probably asking "well then why is chemotherapy so hard on the body?" Chemo targets every cell in your body, cancerous or not, that are actively dividing. And like I mentioned, its something your cells always are in the process of working towards doing (or actively completing), so it eradicates a good portion of the cells in your entire body. Like your cells that divide to make more hair, it targets those heavily because they divide more frequently. So thats why you lose your hair.

2. Theres a type of moth known as a peppered moth. It has two colors. Black base with white speckles, or vise versa. So originally where they lived, the trees they clung to were white. In this environment, the birds that preyed on them ate the darker moths because they didnt blend in with the trees as well as the lighter ones. But then, the industrial revolution began. So much smoke and soot was produced that these same trees got covered and became black. Then what happened? The black moth had an advantage because the white moth was spotted easier by predators. And lets take another 360, shall we? When we realized what we were doing, pollution laws became a thing and the trees turned white again. This meant the black moths were once again more frequently hunted by predators.

3. A lot of species you dont think are invasive are. Like lionfish. Theyre terribly invasive, they kill many native fish, etc. And don't ask me how but everyone is in an agreement that the best way we can solve this issue is obviously to up the demand for the lionfish (and thats not the crazy part. That makes perfect sense.) Well how do we increase demand for an invasive and venomous spiky fish? By making people want to eat it. Yes. They want you to eat it so more businesses get demand for it, so they order more, so they catch more of them in the sea, etc. Makes sense but..I think I'll pass. Especially since that toxin they have is heat resistant. Cooking some variety of animals can get rid of the toxins they possess for their own safety, just like cooking food removes some bacteria. Lionfish isnt like that. Its still there once you cook it...

4. This is going to be the longest one for sure, LOL. So theres a debate in the science world on what a virus is. Its not technically alive, but it obviously isn't dead. It just can't live without us. yes, us. Hosts. So most people say parasites. See, viruses obviously get in our bodies and make us sick. But how? Well, theres two common ways. First one is the Lytic Cycle. Also, for future reference, viruses are much smaller than our cells. Continuing on, this method is where the virus binds to a host cell by its receptor, which by the way they are terribly picky about who/what cell they choose, and from there that gives them access to all the cells information. It inserts its own DNA/RNA (whatever it has. DNA is the cliche double helix you already see, RNA is just a form of DNA that can travel outside of the cells nucleus and usually codes for things like your proteins. I probably explained that terribly so feel free to just look up DNA vs RNA.) In some cases, not always, the cell actually doesn't bother attaching and just kind of...enters the cell as a whole. And you'd think this cell would notice a whole other DNA system inside of it, but it never does. Anyway, from there the virus is attached to one of your cells and suddenly your cell is obeying its every request. It then commands "clone more viruses.", so this cell fills itself with so many viruses that eventually its cell membrane erupts and all of these little viruses it cloned from the original virus flood out. They go on to attack other normal cells, tell them the same thing, flood your body with more, etc etc. Its also to note, cells cant live without their membrane intact. So that cell basically just killed itself at the command of this virus.

   The other way that viruses get into your body is through the Lysogenic Cycle. Think of it as...longer word, longer cycle. It begins the same, the virus attaches and inserts its DNA into one of your cells. However this time it never tells your cell what to do...it just sits there. See, remember how I mentioned in 1 with cancer that cells constantly replicate themselves? With the viruses DNA being in the cells DNA, and the cell not knowing, it divides. And those that it just made divide. And they keep making more cells, until one day a chemical is slightly out of balance or you get a bit too hungry. All of those affected cells are then sent completely out of wack. Then that virus DNA inside all of those cells start saying "make more viruses", and the Lytic cycle begins. (Note: for the Lytic cycle to happen, the Lysogenic cycle doesnt ALWAYS happen. It just can if thats the route the virus goes.)

I just kind of want to humanize for a second. Provide some comfort for the future since most are thinking about past memories right now. Like I've mentioned multiple times, I had my IGP meeting and suddenly duel enrollment was mentioned and my senior year was brought up, and suddenly I thought "wow. I've made it this far. I'm halfway done with highschool right now." And some of you aren't even that far. Some are farther. But I want to just say; You'll be fine. You don't have to know every detail. You don't have to know yet what you want to do professionally or where you want to go to college. Cause yknow what? I don't know where I want to go either. You'll figure it out, and thats okay. You have time. Its not necessary to jump into college right after highschool. Take a break if you need to.

Just most importantly, listen to YOURSELF. Don't let other people tell you "Oh you should just be a doctor! It pays well!" because I've heard people tell me that too and I applaud doctors. Go ahead if thats you (like the people here who want to be nurses, congrats!). But it isn't me. I'm not going to settle for something I don't want to do just for pay. And you shouldn't either. Be proud of who you are and who you want to be because you're uniquely you, and thats awesome! And if you don't know who you want to be, you'll find it. Promise.

Also we all know flames change color. But so do stars. In fact up until a certain temperature they will continue to change color. But once at a certain temperature their color will stay the same. I'm looking into changing one of my teachers and I first asked my homeroom teacher about this. She said she recommends telling my counselor because shes not sure if shes the one whose supposed to change teachers, and if she is she asks for instructions. So I called my counselor and we were supposed to call at 11:30 but shes been on another call and hasn't even texted me back yet. Seeing the past texts shes left me, I just seen that she said she can't switch my teachers but is still willing to hear out my concern.

Hopefully its my homerooms job and she just needs some guidance, which I'm not shaming her for at all. But if that isn't the case and nobody can switch my classes, what do I do? Deal with it?

How has everyones semester been going so far? I know its been a lot of anxiety with switching classes and getting schedules just right, and I totally agree. But how are the actual courses in y'alls opinion? Too hard, too busy, etc? Currently I'm under the impression that I got the hard semester first and also really confused about IXL. No teacher talked to me about it and its legit a 2nd math I'll have to do? But oh well, we power through! Apparently its 140 lessons and also only in my gradebook for next semester...So I'm just hoping I dont it and algebra 2 all at once (Unless they use it for algebra 2? But that doesnt make sense because its a totally different teacher...So weird tbh.)

So we have a Spanish 3 test today which I doubt I'll be able to take and will be working ahead to worry about tomorrow. I see that we CONTINUE THE UNIT after this test, so I get confused. I then go into our course tree to see how the rest of the unit looks..and I've discovered I think the worst grading I've ever seen. Our recent quiz was 38% of our grade. Our next one is 62%, actually. And overall, our tests are 60%.

Our quizzes are also 10 points per quiz, so if you get 9/10 points youve gotten a 90. Now consider getting a 90 on something 62% of your entire grade.

If you guys watch youtube from time to time, you may have (especially recently) seen a youtuber pop up called Schlep. Incase you haven't, basically hes a roblox youtuber who I think has been making videos for a few years??? but basically he plays roblox and gets predators caught. He's managed to get 6 of them actually arrested and in trouble with law enforcement. Recently, roblox gave him a cease and desist letter saying he violated their guidelines by sharing personal information and needed to stop. Following this they have banned all of his accounts hes ever made since he was 8 yrs old. This obviously made many roblox fans mad, so there are now games, merch, etc getting banned for having the phrase "#FreeSchlep" on it. People also I believe are getting banned if they put this as part of their username.

Roblox has insisted about 3 times that Schlep is a reckless vigilante, and that their platform is perfectly safe. They also mentioned that if you happened to see something, just report it to them as a company. (Which yes, would be amazing if they actually did anything.) - Now the story has tripled in popularity. Chris Hansen, the host of the show "To catch a predator", has collabed with Schlep to try and fix this, there is a petition to make the CEO of Roblox resign, The entire state of Louisiana has sued them, senators are involved, etc. Kreekcraft has quit the Roblox Star program, Flamingo has also talked about the situation on his channel. And multiple other countries as well have banned the app or are calling to do so. People are also bringing to light how many weird games Roblox has on it that are not at all safe (unlike they claim), like the hang-out games that take place in bathrooms or many others that feature inappropriate content.

All in all because of doubling, tripling, and even quadrupling down on their decision that everything is safe on their platform all while seemingly defending predators, Roblox has lost 12 billion dollars.

Personally, I like roblox as a platform. I know many younger kids do as well. I would hate to see it go as I've made a few very close friends on there, however things have to be done for childrens safety as some of these cases are so dark and just awful. I won't be mentioning any of them as they can be triggering but if you care for statistics, you can look up cases.

But yeah, thanks for coming to my ted talk and make sure to check the post under this one! My last thing to say on the topic is just #FreeSchlep, this is really disappointing to see.

I went through each option slowly and it kind of just restated a point I made in my sample work, so I remembered a lot of it. B was the only wrong answer. So I got to thinking "Well thats weird...4 right answers?" And I did only what any logical person would do. Rewent through every answer. Surely enough A, C, and E fit the criteria perfectly. However, D was stated differently and made to seem like it didnt relate in the same way even though it was scientifically correct. In the end, I gave up after like 30+ minutes of worrying about this singular question and just picked all 4 of them. If it was wrong, I could at least argue that it technically was correct.

I did end up getting the question right, it was all 4 options. But my point here is why word things to try to trick students? Its much harder to prove you're LEARNING something when you're being mislead. Just say it straight up? it reminds me of the time a science question asked me which answer involved North Dakota, so I picked the one that very obviously said "North Dakota" instead of just talking about the state in a kind of 3rd person. I got it wrong, lol.

TLDR: I hate how some connexus questions are formatted to trick students.

But basically, Mrs. Lanier was sharing a video with us that she had made and she wanted to make sure we could hear. So, we were supposed to either say "Yes" in the chat or put a thumbs up as a reaction. Goodddmorning!! I swear, I've worked ahead so much that today feels like a Friday. I literally woke up and went "its okay I have no classes today" and then I paused because yes. Yes I do. These questions are on vocabulary. I recommend checking out the U1 vocab link on the test resource page! This also helps you remember that for these, you don't need to say a lot. They have a word limit of 2-3 words, and if you exceed it then the box will turn bright red. Also, at least in my experience as this isn't graded for me yet, they don't expect it to take 2 words. I didn't need both on multiple occasions. Hint here is just use the key words you can identify in the question.

6-8

These will be longer writing, as you have no word limit (though they do say you should write simple sentences). They're cultural questions. If you check the test resources, it has the lessons you need to review for these.

Scary portion! These are all grammar. With all the grammar rules they tell you to review, I know it seems like a lot. Personally I do recommend reviewing all of them if you can. However, I get if that may be complicated to remember so all I can say is they (AT LEAST) do ask about preterite, reciprocal form, and adjectives.

The good part about this is that the last 4, (17-20) are questions that are read in English. Yayy!!

I was looking up some animal facts earlier and I discovered some small things. Pretty cool but nothing that really overly surprised me. Then I came across a really odd fact. Greenland sharks lose their eyes to parasites that eat them and then replace them. Though its semi-beneficial because they can't really see well to begin with and they're really slow so this might honestly help them catch food.

Well, this got me thinking. What exactly is a Greenland shark? I don't remember hearing anything about them among the more popular kinds of sharks. So I looked them up. They can look a bit..odd (especially with the way their eyes look) but overall I don't think its that awful (compared to others..)

And heres the awesome part. When I googled what a greenland shark was, a reddit post popped up. All I seen was a picture of the shark, and a caption saying it had been in the water since 1627 and was 392. I went "WOAH." and logically my brain wanted to say it had to be dead right? But no. If you actually stop to think about that, it would've been eaten. And if not, it wouldve been so far decomposed that it'd be a fossil (I assume...almost 400 years would seem to do it lol.) - Turns out Greenland sharks have INSANE lifespans. Like I'm talking 272-500 years. They only reach maturity at 150 years! - And how they figure this out is carbon dating of the crystals in the sharks eyes. So while the shark was very likely 392, it could've also been much older. Not to mention its also the oldest Greenland shark ever recorded (so far).

(For anyone additionally wondering, the 392 yr old was a 5-meter long female and was found in 2016. The reason they live so long is because they have a very slow metabolism, so not much wear and tear is happening to their organs)

I'm just casually listening to Your Obedient Servant from Hamilton as one does (its amazing, I love Burr lol.) And then I got interested. Since this isn't really a topic covered in many history classes, I never got the chance to read the original letters they shared. And omg I've went down a rabbit hole...

First of all, I learned they actually ended them with "I have the honor to be your obedient servant, A. Burr." (/A. Hamilton, depending on the letter.) Didnt know that. Feel like I shouldve though. And also, it shook me the word choice Burr uses to express that Hamilton ignored him. They definitely managed to share the same tone between the real letters and the song from the musical (especially at the end of the letter vs the beginning of the song).

Second, it REALLY puts into perspective the entire fight they had. Im so serious that it actually...wasn't that serious. It basically was Burr saying he heard Hamilton talked bad about him, Hamilton asking "Okay but what did you hear? I cant confirm or deny I said it without knowing what youre talking about." - "You know what you said. Say sorry!" - "no Burr, I don't. So therefore, again, I am not apologizing for words I cannot confirm I said." - "Yeah lets fight im done with this"

Anyway, in short so I dont yap too much again LOL, I recommend you give it a read if you haven't already! They're really good tbh.

Anyways, how's everyone doing?

1. Well, lets start from the top, Eliza's first love wasn't actually Alexander. It was..... James Monroe. (He comes back in a sec just you wait)

2. Sooooo Alexander wrote many, many letters to John Laurens and lets just say they we're very affectionate.

3. Right before their marriage, Alexander wrote a heartbreaking letter to Eliza saying they should cut off any romantic ties as she shouldn't marry someone like him.

4. Alexander and Eliza actually adopted a little baby girl named fanny, who was the daughter of one of the soldiers Alexander fought with, and took care of her for a very long time!

5. After Philip died, one of their daughters started to hallucinate but, Alexander refused to send her anywhere in fear they would treat her like they did his own mother so, after Alexander died Eliza sent her to an asylum after she tried to suffocate her baby brother, Phil to "bring Philip back."

6. The night Eliza found out about Hamilton's affair, James Monroe came to her door, knowing what she had been told, he gave her a kerchief and simply left.

7. Lafayette's wife, Adrienne, was saved from getting killed by James Monroe's wife, (ironically) Elizabeth.

8. James Madison was actually very close friends of the Hamilton's before Jefferson came into the picture. He even had dinners and played with the Hamilton kids. Eliza said she always knew he would be a great father.

9. Angelica actually met Thomas Jefferson in France. But, Lafayette's wife, invited them both to her home all the time. Other guests include James Monroe's wife, Patsy Jefferson (his daughter) and many friends of Lafayette.

10. At the duel of Hamilton and Burr, Hamilton's doctor took care of Burr's daughter when he was on the run for killing Hamilton. That same doctor's son took care of Burr in his final days. He asked Burr "do you regret what you done to Hamilton?" Burr responded, "No, when he walked to weehawken that day, he decided his fate. I don't regret it at all."

11. Unlike Burr, when Hamilton was on his death bed, he asked for a preacher. Hamilton asked for forgiveness and he wanted the preacher to pray over him.

This woman sat there with me, saying she was proud I didn't overthink the problems, especially considering I had honors classes and those students tend to get really anxious about those type of assignments. Then went over my end paragraph and taught me about a minor mistake I made, and still gave me 100%. Then told me that she hoped I enjoyed my trip and I mentioned possibly bringing a camera to take pictures (I do want to take photography next year as my elective instead of language so it'd help LOL.) - Y'ALL. Anyway, anyone truly like Shakespeare's writing? I know hes really hit or miss with people due to his choice of language. Afterall, I've had more questions than I can count that gave a sentence from like Romeo & Juliet or something and asked what he meant by it. Most people get really confused too as far as I've seen.

Personally, I do really like his stories. Some may feel repetitive because a lot of it seems like hopeless love, but it really is intriguing. Plus, he wrote in iambic pentameter which feels so complicated to me LOL. (Incase you dont know what that is, its basically where you have 10 syllables per verse. 5 stressed, 5 not. Like the rhythm of a heartbeat. Ex: Shall I comPARE thee TO a SUMmer's DAY?). I mean tbh a Haiku even seems conciously troubling to me so what do I know.

Overall I (personally) agree that he probably was one of the most talented English writers we have.

Anyway, was just a random question I wanted y'alls thoughts on, LOL. Have a great weekend!

Well today somebody asked me whats the longest living sea creature? So I answered that it was that shark. Infact, its actually something called a "Deep sea glass sponge." Now I've heard of sea sponges before of course, but honestly I 100% forgot about them. Whats amazing to me is that specific species can live up to 15,000 years old!! They say its due to their really slow metabolism rate, one of the same reasons they cited for the shark.

And just incase anyones curious of the oldest land animal, that'd be Jonathan. Hes a Seychelles giant tortoise! Its thought that he was born in 1832, making him 193 this year. And the one thing I never thought I'd hear is that a tortoise holds a guinness world record...cause he does.

Thats one can of worms, because I mean...making AI videos of a dead guy? Just let the man rest. HOWEVER. Here's where the line REALLY is drawn. They're all sending these videos tooo...his daughter. Who has now issued a statement begging people to stop sending her weird AI videos of her dead father.

I dont know about all of you, but WIN Wednesday was a big success for me! I was able to catch up and get some extra credit work done, which is a blessing. I think that this might be the one of the smartest things admin has done in a while, which is a relief. Its refreshing to have a day to catch up every once in a while without having to spend weekends working. Anyways, I hope everyone is doing well!

Am I the only one who feels like this week was both the longest and shortest week of my life? So much happened and still it went by in a flash. I'm so glad we get two days without work this week- its so nice to have a chance to catch up on old assignments.

Guys...I just realized something absoloutly wild...I dont actually know how tall any of yall are. Isnt that crazy? I've know you all for 2 years and  for all I know you could literaly come up to my shoulders or be a foot taller then me. So, I guess for the question of the day: How tall are you? Seems its Monday...again. I hope everyone had a great weekend and was able to get some relaxation before another long week. So, how is everyone doing?! I'm pretty busy today- I've got around 9 or ten assignments to do today...so needless to say i wont be very active on padlet today. ANYWAYS, time for...

Yesterday, I webmailed Mrs. Lanier about our midterm project. I discovered it was just a copy/paste of what we did last week and she already graded that. I asked her do I just resubmit it or?...She didnt reply until today and said that yes, she just wanted us to discuss how to work through it in class. Okay, cool! I'll resubmit it for this! I check, its dropped. Again, a whole DAY overdue.

Now I get that maybe for Earth Science it was an opportunity for some students to just get practice, because for Chem we had to do our 30 question practice as well. It never got dropped. But at least tell us?

FNAF Security Breach.

His most common (talked about) appearance is FNAF 2 and UCN. Otherwise he is a very rare animatronic. However he's in the FNAF 3 minigames. He'll appear in Special delivery if you collect to much dark remnant. In UCN he will turn your whole office pitch black in 10 seconds. FNAF 2 on the other hand, if you look at him to long well- he'll crash your game-.

Now Security Breach is a weird case...The only one to see him (caught on camera) in the game was YOU GUESSED IT the king of FNAF himself: Markiplier. No one else has been to get him to appear but it is said in the official encyclopedia (Where I got all this information) that he has appeared.

Anyway, is anyone else taking their PSAT tomorrow?

Others that are important and needed are Angelica and Peggy/Maria (last call for her).

As I've heard, a lot of the hesitation specifically with characters like Laurens and Mulligan is the amount of cursing involved. Two things,

1st. Laurens hardly says anything bad, and anything he has can be cut out. Even if theres no way to rephrase it and we just have to have a silent part of the song, we can do that.

2nd. Mulligan says....a LOT of choice words. However, most of them (as I am writing out the lyrics), I've already gotten past and gave suggestions to alter. It isn't too hard so far, and Madison as far as I know doesn't say anything too crazy other than one line thats already cut in the live version.

Simple reminder that you're not escaping those lyrics in this musical. Hamilton, Washington, Burr, Lafayette, etc. The only ones I think who don't say anything bad are Philip and King George. However, we can alter them. You don't HAVE to say them. We would love to hear your creativity no matter what! <33

Anyway, I hope you're all doing good. What do you guys think is your favorite subject so far? I'd say English 4 for sure. Not just because of the lesson structure but also because of my teacher lol. She'll be in the Clemson location today actually! Other than that uhh...my spanish teacher is cool but the way Spanish 3 is structured will be my death 😭

OH and also random side note but...remember last year when it was this time of year and it still felt like summer weather. IT'S SO COLD NOW??? Out of nowhere too like huh??

Today, I looked at my grade on my essay (which includes the works cited), and he said this: 1) No hanging indent 2) Blog-like sources: aamft.org, ebsco.com — not allowed

Bruh you legit saw this last week and gave me a 100 without feedback...I'm so confused!! And, in his last lecture, he said that we could use sites ending with .com and .org. Plus, he already saw the sites I had, and approved them. I can't even. Also, is there not a hanging indent on this thing?! Have I gone mad??

He emailed me back this morning...

It starts off like this.

"I know part of this is confusing because I am dictation issues and reminders to myself as I scan."

...Um...What..?

Is he trying to tell me he's dyslexic?? I...am so confused..?

So like lets say you have a quiz. (I'm using career readiness as my example) And lets say said quiz has 33% in that weight slot next to it, but its "overall weight" at the top of your gradebook is 25%. Well my assumption was basically that somehow the 25% mattered, but the weight of the individual assessment was 33%.

Turns out it means that the overall weight of ALL quizzes for the course would be 25% of your grade. That specific one is just 33% of that 25.

I'm probably like wayyy behind in realizing this but..the more you know?

Anyway she said its "very rare" somebody gets 100 on these so I think I did good 😭 - Apparently the only 100s for it are typically to native speakers that take the course. How'd you guys in Spanish 3 do? I bet y'all did great!!

Staying on the subject of OCs, is there anything you find yourself drawing inspiration from for a lot of them? (Pinterest is not a valid answer) Like, fashion in different time periods, specific articles of clothing, etc?

When I tell you we've just been sitting in silence for 20 minutes. She said we'd review "due dates" but shes just muted and nothing is happening. She hasnt even closed our chat like usual. Everyones asking what we do lol.

So I'm sure we all have heard of Leah Ashe and MeganPlays. Two biggg roblox youtubers that used to be really popular like 6 or so years ago. Like I always seen girls with roblox usernames based off of Leah and pretending to be her 😭 -- Anyway, they honestly were best friends and even made a youtube channel together that basically was their own collab stuff.

Well...come to find out a few days ago, its been revealed Megan's husband has been cheating on her! With none other than...Leah. It was speculation because Megan made a few posts/comments hinting towards it, however today there was a video posted of her husband and Leah kissing at Disneyland. With her hand on his thigh and everything.

Oh and to add to how bad this already is, Megan has a kid with this guy!! Who, by the way, is only 1 year old.

So yeah uhm..drama finds every youtuber/streamer I swear. Poor Megan, I can't believe how it'd feel to watch some people still taking Leah's side.

Anyways, for the question of the day...I feel like sparking a debate. So how about..
