The Aztec Government was a lot like a monarchy where mostly an emperor or a king was the main ruler. The Aztec called their ruler Huey Tlatoani. When a Ruler died, the new ruler was picked by high ranking Nobel. The new Ruler is usually related to the old ruler, but it doesn’t have to be the son could be the brother or anyone else related.

The Aztec were located in central Mexico and used the land from around 1400s to 1519s. The Capital City Was Tenochtitlan.

The Aztec spoke the language Nahuatl. The Aztec wrote using symbols called glyphs or pictographs. They didn’t have an alphabet but used symbols instead.

The Battle of Tenochtitlán (May 22–August 13, 1521) was a military battle between the Aztecs and a coalition of Spanish and indigenous fighters. Led by Hernán Cortés, Spanish conquistadores formed alliances with local tribes to take over the Aztec capital, Tenochtitlán. When the Spanish invaded the Aztecs’ home they brought a disease called smallpox. It was very infectious and because the Aztecs had never had smallpox before many died.
