By: Dellava, Charlyn A.

OneNote is a type of digital note-taking software that is useful not only for students but also for everyone. This allows students to create, organize, and store any kind of notes directly on their devices. It can serve as an excellent substitute for traditional pen and paper, especially in situations where you want to take note of important things during a lecture or discussion without physically writing them down. This is particularly useful in classrooms where lectures can be long, and some students may find that handwriting notes is tiring or even uncomfortable over time.

Instead of using a notebook or loose sheets of paper, students can simply type their notes into OneNote, making it faster and more efficient in time. The software automatically saves the work, so they don’t have to worry about losing notes if they somehow misplace or lose their notebook or if their paper gets damaged. OneNote also offers powerful organizational tools. Students can create separate sections and pages, add tags for important points, and use a search function to quickly find specific information later.

Another advantage is the ability to customize notes. students can choose different fonts, colors, and layouts, highlight important text, or even insert images, diagrams, and links for additional reference. If some have preference of handwriting, they can use a stylus or touchscreen device to write directly on the screen, and OneNote can even convert a handwriting into typed text. For group work, OneNote supports collaboration, allowing multiple people to work on the same notebook in real time. This means students can share notes, brainstorm ideas, and compile activities together without being in the same physical space. With these features, OneNote functions as more than just a simple digital notebook. It is a versatile learning tool that combines note-taking, organization, and collaboration, making it an effective piece of technology for the modern classroom.

Interactive Whiteboard

By: Umayam, Mykah Divine B.

When sir Z explained the task we had to do, the first thing that came to my mind was the interactive whiteboard (IWB). I actually chose it on a whim because sir Z mentioned there was a catch: “ there shall be no same technology used ”. So I submitted my choice right away, just like the others. As we all know, an Interactive Whiteboard (IWB) is a large-sensitive screen that connects to a computer and projector, allowing teachers and students to interact directly with the displayed content using a finger, pen, or stylus. Unlike a traditional whiteboard, it enables digital writing, drawing, highlighting, and moving of objects on the screen, making lessons more dynamic and engaging.

As I read more research about the benefits and challenges of using IWBs, I discovered that many countries, especially in the West, are already familiar with this technology. One study by Joshua H. Schneider from Rowan University explored whether using the interactive functions of a Smart Board could improve learning, Schneider, 2018). He worked with a small group of students, both in regular and special education. Schneider compared their average test scores before and after using the smart board with dynamic features like moving shapes, disappearing answers, and randomly calling on students. He stated that when the technology was used interactively, students showed much better focus, motivation, and enjoyment. Many even said it felt like playing a video games, which they loved. As a result, they performed significantly better compared in the past.

I also found more studies about IWBs. While there are challenges in using them, most results show positive effects. That’s why, for me, If I were to choose a technology to integrate into my classroom, it would be this. As a student, I personally find IWBs both enjoyable and educational. We know that students today have shorter attention spans, so an IWB could spark curiosity, excitement, and engagement. For example, If I became a cookery teacher in the future, I could use an IWB when discussing a specific dish or recipe. I could make the lesson interactive, students could “cook” in class without needing to buy or use any physical materials and the hassle on going to the lab room. They can touch the screen and dragged the ingredients they need. I could also let them solve puzzles of ingredient pictures or cooking equipment. This way, I could use the activity in all my classes without worrying about the materials getting damaged. If I created a physical puzzle, there’s a high chance the printed pieces could get lost or broken, which would mean some classes might miss the experience.

Reference: Schneider, J.

By: Gagarin, Carelen Mae M.

Google Forms is one of the important platforms in a physical classroom, because this is the most useful technology tool that teachers and students can use. It's free and it allows users to create surveys, quizzes, and forms easily, especially the teachers. It can be used to collect information, check students' understanding, and even enrollment automatically without needing to print papers.

The main benefits of Google Forms in the physical classroom is quick data collection. For example, one of your teachers gives a short quiz after a lesson to see if you understand the topic. The results are shown instantly, and it makes it easy to know which students need more help, also it saves time compared to checking the papers one by one. It can also store all responses automatically. It means teachers don't have to worry about losing the papers of their students, and they can review the results anytime. It allows teachers to organize and analyze information effectively.

It is also useful for assignments and feedback. Teachers can create forms where students can submit their homework, answer reflective questions and even give feedback about the lesson. It can also help to improve the communication between students and teachers, because information can be shared clearly and quickly. For students, it is helpful because it is simple to use. They can answer quizzes or surveys using their phones, tablets, laptops or even school computers. It is also paperless, which means this is environmentally friendly.

All in all, Google Forms is important in a physical classroom because it makes assessments faster, encourages participation, and also it helps to organize information better. It blends traditional teaching with modern technology, it makes learning more efficient and interactive. By using this, teachers can save time, and students can enjoy a more convenient learning experience.

By: Fortuna, Ivan Chris E.

BookWidgets is an educational application that helps both teachers and students by providing a flexible and creative way to design and complete learning activities. For teachers, the app is like a digital workshop where they can build a wide range of interactive assignments. Instead of just creating a simple worksheet, a teacher can build a crossword puzzle, a timeline, a split-screen activity with a video on one side and questions on the other, or a detailed quiz. This variety keeps lessons fresh and engaging for students, moving beyond traditional paper-based tasks. The app is a simple, drag-and-drop tool, which makes it easy for teachers to get started without needing a lot of technical skill.

For students, BookWidgets makes learning feel more like play. The activities they are given are often more dynamic and visually interesting than a standard handout. For example, a history student might be asked to arrange events on a digital timeline, or a science student might label a diagram by dragging and dropping words. This interactive format helps students stay focused and makes it easier for them to grasp new information. A key advantage of BookWidgets is its offline capability. A teacher can prepare and share an assignment when they are connected to the internet, and students can download and complete it later without an internet connection. Once they are back online, their answers and progress are automatically sent back to the teacher, making it a great tool for schools with limited or unreliable internet. In short, BookWidgets helps teachers create better content and helps students learn in a more engaging and accessible way.

By: Caña, Clarisse L.

Pear Deck is a free add-on educational web-based tool that uses slides to create a more engaging and participatory presentation to enhance learning experiences. It is designed to assist teachers with their lessons and be able to integrate several interactive slides or activities. As noted by the University of South Alabama, it can aid instructors to assess the learning efficiency of learners as well as the student engagement, classroom interactions, and peer learning. Since this is an add-on—in both Google and Microsoft—it allows teachers to create or edit their presentations right within their own respective accounts.

One of the advantages of this platform is that it facilitates a learning environment that centers the learners. Using Pear Deck also allows students to respond to questions even if they are shy as it features an anonymous way of responding, promoting inclusivity and sensitivity. “The anonymity of each student is brilliant, allowing the teacher to see how the class is working, live, and have it up on the big screen if needed, but without anyone feeling shy about being singled out.” (Edwards, 2024). While it seems to be more advantageous for an online class modality, you can also use it during face to face classes. You can also choose a lesson mode; Instructor-Paced means that everyone’s screens will sync with the facilitator. While the Student-Paced means students can work through your lesson independently. Pear Deck allows teachers to see the deck live so they can see who is participating at that moment. Student responses appear on the teacher's screen in real time, even if working remotely.

According to Clark and Mayer in 2011, it allows classroom engagement and reduces cognitive loads of the students with its design principles. By providing various resources such as sample question galleries, help articles, and lots of ideas for teachers to work from, Pear Deck makes lesson planning and presentation making easier and can even improve their performance as well as their students.

References: Clark, R.C., & Mayer, R.

By: Pascua, Jomabhel Shyn O.

Canva is a very useful tool for physical class discussions. It is a platform where teachers and students can make different designs and presentations. In the classroom, Canva is used to create slideshows, posters, infographics, activity sheets, and other visual materials. These make lessons more interesting and easier to understand. Even if someone is not good at designing, Canva is easy to use because it has many ready-made templates that can help create nice and professional-looking work.

Canva has many features that are helpful for both teaching and learning. It allows users to add and edit text, upload pictures, and use free photos, shapes, icons, and charts. You can also change colors, fonts, and layouts to fit the topic of the lesson. Because of these features, the materials made with Canva can look neat and colorful, which helps get the attention of students during the discussion.

Another good thing about Canva is that it can also be used offline. While many people use Canva online through a web browser, there is also a desktop and mobile app that can be downloaded. Once the app and the needed templates are downloaded, it can be used even without the internet. This is very useful in the Philippines where internet connection is not always strong, especially in classrooms. With the offline mode, teachers and students can still work on their designs anytime without worrying about losing their progress.

In conclusion, Canva is a helpful and flexible tool for education. It can be used in physical class discussions and also outside the classroom. Its easy design features, colorful templates, and offline use make it a great choice for creating and presenting lessons in a creative way.

LINK: Canva: Visual Suite for Everyone

By: Ramos, Cristine Joy M.

Moodle is a free app that helps teachers and students learn together online. It works as a learning management system, which is a special kind of software that makes online learning easier. With Moodle, teachers can create a virtual classroom where they can share lessons, videos, and homework. This means everything you need for class can be in one place. Teachers can also make quizzes and tests for automatic grading. This feature helps teachers quickly see how well students are doing without having to check each paper manually.

One of the great things about Moodle is that students can talk to their teachers and classmates through forums, chats, and announcements. This makes communication easier and allows everyone to ask questions and share ideas. Teachers can organize lessons by week, which helps students know what to study and when to complete tasks. One cool feature of Moodle is that students can download lessons and do activities even when they don’t have the internet. This is really helpful for those times when you might not have a strong connection.

Moodle also helps reduce paper use because everything is done online. It also makes learning more organized and fun. Students can learn at their own pace, which is great because everyone learns differently and we have the control.

I remember during the pandemic, many of us relied on Moodle to continue our lessons when we could not go to school. I used it every day, and I found it very helpful. I didn’t have to deal with a lot of physical paperwork, which made it easier to keep track of my assignments. I liked how I could revisit lessons and take my time with difficult subjects. Overall, I think Moodle is a good app not only for students but especially with our teachers that makes learning easier.

By: Gutierrez, Kristine Mae B.

Nearpod is an app that educators can use to make an interactive presentation. This would help an educator to make lessons and discussions more engaging and intellectually stimulating for students. Through this app, educators can also make formative assessments which are part of their requirement to make the engaged and actively participate in the discussion. As I've said, this app is interactive in a way that it has a variety of activities that like matching pairs, collaborative boards, videos, games, polls, and open-ended questions that may help both the educators and the learners to actively participate in the learning process. It also contains 3D models and virtual fieldtrips functionality that makes the learning more engaging. Additionally, now that we are done with Teacher-Centered Learning and is now in the Learner-Centered Learning, it is a great educational app to use because it has a live participation and student-paced features. Lastly, let's talk about its accessibility.

By: Jesa Katrize T. Silvan

Adobe Acrobat Reader is a free application developed by Adobe that allows users to open, view, and interact with PDF (Portable Document Format) files. It is widely deployed in document creation in order to ensure that document layout, font, and image fidelity is carried across devices.Among the many benefits of the Adobe Acrobat Reader, one of the best ones is that it allows one to work offline so that students and educator can access PDFs even when the internet is not well.

Adobe Acrobat Reader may be utilized in a face-to-face classroom or meeting to communicate lessons, study resources, or activity sheets. The application can allow teachers to display a PDF lesson on a monitor, note important details in the process, or simply draw on the document itself. An example is that when a lecturer is explaining a point, he or she can open either a module in the form of PDF and highlight the points as well as provide comments. With the help of their devices, students will be able to follow along and all consult the same material.

The application is available since it can be downloaded at no cost on the Google Play Store, Apple app store, or the official site of Adobe. Once installed, the user is able to view PDF files received through emails and through bluetooth connection and does not depend on internet connectivity, a feature that will save them especially in the remote areas with poor network coverage. The PDF teaching materials can be shared by a teacher in the form of lesson plans, worksheets or even reading materials, and on their part students can save them as digital files so that they can be easily retrieved.

The advantages of using a book on device as a student will include portability where several documents, to include textbooks, notes, and references, can be transported without the bulk of hardcover books. It is possible to add highlights, sticky notes, bookmarks in the application, and critical pages can be marked to be reviewed efficiently. Moreover, PDF files are locked and cannot be edited without their consent, protecting the originality of study material.

Overall, Adobe Acrobat Reader is not just a reading tool—it’s a practical, reliable, and versatile application that supports learning by making educational resources easily accessible, portable, and interactive, both inside and outside the classroom.

Technology is inevitable. Especially in today’s time, many people are using and benefiting from it because it makes our life easier, especially in education, as it simplifies the way discussions are delivered, making it easier for students to understand and encouraging them to be more engaged.

I strongly agree that this kind of technology will be a big help to a learners. Based on my research, SMART Technology founded by a husband and wife David Martin and Nancy Knowlton. Their purpose is to combine the education and technology to make the learning process engaging to student. Their first innovation was a SMART Board until it reaches its improvement. Until there was lot of SMART, technology existed including the SMART table that was introduce in 2008. Their innovation help to introduce modern methods of teaching that are still use in different schools in today’s world.

The Touch Table is a high tech innovation that I am confident it can ensure a truly learner-centered environment in a classroom. It provides students with an interactive way wherein they can actively participate in activities to create a respectful environment and improve communication between the peers. This multi-touch table is effective in a physical classroom wherein students can explore lessons in a more engaging way. It allows multiple users to interact with the screen simultaneously; it promotes teamwork, critical thinking and hands-on learning experiences. This technology not only captures the attention of learners. It also makes learning more exciting and help students to understand lessons better because they are involved and not just watching. For me as a future educator, I see it as a way to create a more dynamic and inclusive learning environment where students are at the center of learning process. This high tech or multi touch table is solely focus to students to be more active learners than a passive learner is.

These days, educational podcasts like TED Talks are really useful in the classroom. TED Talks have speakers from different fields who share interesting ideas and real experiences. You can watch or listen to them online anytime, and some can even be downloaded, so you can use them even without internet. This makes them really easy for both teachers and students to use.

One good thing about TED Talks is that they help students learn beyond textbooks. For example, if the topic is science, leadership, or technology, a teacher can show a TED Talk where an expert explains it in a simple and fun way. This makes lessons easier to understand and more engaging for students.

TED Talks are also great for starting class discussions. After watching or listening, the teacher can divide the class into small groups to talk about their thoughts and connect them to the lesson. Students often participate more and think more deeply when lessons are done this way.

Another benefit is that TED Talks show different perspectives from around the world. Since the speakers come from different countries and cultures, students learn to appreciate other ideas and real-life issues. It also helps improve their listening and understanding, especially when the talks are in English.

Plus, TED Talks are good examples of how to speak and present. Students can see how speakers organize their ideas, explain clearly, and use visuals to make their points stronger. For fun, students can even make their own mini TED Talk, which is a great way to practice public speaking, thinking skills, and creativity.

In short, TED Talks aren’t just about giving information. They make lessons more interesting, help students see different points of view, encourage discussions, and make students more confident in sharing their ideas.

https://slowchathealth.com/2022/05/23/ted-talks/?utm_source=chatgpt.com

https://www.readingandwritinghaven.com/5-helpful-ways-to-use-ted-talks-in-the-classroom?utm_source=chatgpt.com

There are many platforms that can be used during discussion online or offline. One of the platforms that I know is 360 Learning. It is slightly the same as Google classroom, it is a collaborative learning platform that integrates learning management with peer-driven training. It combines traditional e-learning with social learning, enabling teams to co-create content, share knowledge, and provide real-time feedback. This approach brings several key benefits to organizations and learners. One of the primary advantages is collaborative content creation. Unlike traditional top-down training, 360 Learning allows subject-matter experts within the organization to contribute to course development.

This leads to more relevant and updated training materials, which reflect real-world challenges and insights. It can be more interactive inside the class and engaging during class. Learners can interact with peers, ask questions, and provide feedback within the platform. This social aspect fosters active participation and deeper learning, as users learn from each other’s experiences and perspectives.

360 Learning also supports rapid upskilling and adaptability. Because content can be created and updated quickly, organizations can respond faster to industry changes, compliance requirements, or skill gaps. This agility is essential in fast-paced environments.

These features like peer reviews, comments, and interactive activities, employees are encouraged to share knowledge and support each other's growth. This helps build support and confidence for everyone. It reduces the need for external training providers by leveraging internal expertise, which can lead to cost savings and faster implementation.

This Learning platform enhances training by making it more collaborative, engaging, and adaptable. It empowers organizations to build a learning culture that keeps pace with change and helps individuals grow together.

By: Suson, Esmeralda D.

Microsoft OneNote is a versatile digital notebook application that helps you organize and manage notes across all your devices. Unlike a simple text document, OneNote is a free-form canvas where you can type, write with a stylus, draw, add pictures, videos, and even audio recordings. All your notes are stored in notebooks, which are further divided into sections and pages, making it easy to keep everything neatly categorized and searchable. The app automatically saves and syncs your work to the cloud, allowing you to access your notes from your phone, tablet, or computer, whether you are at home or on the go.

For students, OneNote is a powerful tool for academic success. You can use it to take lecture notes, create study guides, and organize research for projects. The ability to mix different types of media, such as a recording of your teacher’s lecture with your typed notes, is incredibly helpful for review. You can also sketch diagrams, highlight important information, and use the search function to quickly find any detail. The collaboration feature allows you to work with classmates on group projects in real-time.

It is also helpful for teachers , especially with the special Class Notebook feature. This tool allows teachers to create a digital notebook for each class. It provides a personal workspace for every student, a content library for sharing handouts and materials, and a collaboration space for group activities. Teachers can easily distribute assignments, provide feedback on student work, and organize lesson plans, all in one place. OneNote streamlines administrative tasks and promotes a more organized and interactive learning environment.

https://www.onenote.com/classnotebook#:~:text=Students%20can%20use%20powerful%20drawing,printed%20handouts%20for%20the%20class.

By: Abegail Vallega

Grammarly is an online writing tool that helps people improve their writing by checking grammar, spelling, punctuation, clarity, and style. It works as a website, app, or browser extension, which makes it very easy to use. Grammarly suggests corrections and also explains why something is wrong, so the user can learn while writing.

In education, Grammarly plays a big role in improving the writing skills of both students and teachers. For students, it acts like a personal writing tutor. Many students struggle with grammar and sentence structure, which makes their essays, research papers, and assignments hard to understand. Grammarly helps by highlighting mistakes and offering better word choices. Over time, students become more confident writers because they can see their errors and learn the correct usage instantly.

Teachers also benefit from Grammarly. They can use it when creating lesson plans, modules, reports, or even professional documents. With Grammarly’s help, teachers can make sure that the materials they share with students are clear, error-free, and easy to understand. This saves time and effort in editing.

Another important feature of Grammarly is its plagiarism checker (available in the premium version).
Edpuzzle

Edpuzzle is an interactive video learning platform that allows teachers to transform ordinary videos into engaging lessons. Unlike simply playing a video in class, Edpuzzle provides teachers with the ability to embed questions, quizzes, voice notes, and comments directly into the video. This feature ensures that students do not just watch passively, but instead, engage actively with the content. By doing so, Edpuzzle encourages critical thinking, comprehension, and retention of knowledge.

In the classroom, Edpuzzle can be integrated in several ways. Teachers can either upload their own instructional videos or choose from existing content on platforms such as YouTube, Khan Academy, National Geographic, or TED Talks. Once the video is selected, teachers can customize it by trimming unnecessary parts, adding audio explanations, or inserting questions at specific points. For instance, a teacher might pause a history documentary midway to ask students a multiple-choice question about an event, or they may insert an open-ended question that requires students to reflect and explain in their own words. This makes the learning experience more personalized and interactive.

One of the key advantages of Edpuzzle is its ability to track student progress. Teachers can monitor who watched the video, how much of it was completed, and how students performed on the embedded questions. This provides immediate feedback and helps teachers identify areas where learners struggle. It also promotes accountability, as students are encouraged to stay attentive throughout the lesson.

Edpuzzle is particularly effective for flipped classrooms, homework assignments, and self-paced learning. It caters to different learning styles, especially for visual and auditory learners. While not as popular as other educational tools like Quizlet or Kahoot, Edpuzzle offers unique advantages that enhance student participation and make lessons more interactive, meaningful, and enjoyable.
