Then I created a roller coaster with a team and coded it to follow my roller coaster. I took on the role of leader and designer and in this role I was responsible for creating and organising different things. I  was principled when I showed I was responsible when for example i was fair.   • Why living things survive and thrive in specific ecosystems (causation)
  • The effects of human activities on ecosystems (responsibility)


During this unit of inquiry I’ve gathered evidence to showcase my understanding of the Learner Profile attributes: inquirers. Take a look at the ways I have shown how I’ve developed these attributes. 



I have learned much more about the science concepts of: ecosystems, adaptation, extinction and survival, conservation and interdependence. I have continued to work on my thinking and research skills, in particular analysis and gathering and recording. Along with my enhanced dispositions and skills, I have also thought about taking action to show that human activities can help conserve ecosystems.

When researching as a class, I discovered that palm is one big reason for deforestation in some of the world's more biodiverse forests. The destruction of these forests means that the habitats of endangered species like the Orangutan are destroyed!  I was shocked when we discovered that 50% of products in supermarkets contain palm oil! I wanted to take action and so first I increased my own knowledge by looking at home for products that had palm oil in the ingredient list. We created a large class list of all the items that did and did not have palm oil in them. I have developed my thinking and gained new knowledge throughout this unit. In particular I have learned much more about the history concepts of: change, chronology, civilizations, history, innovation, and progress. During this unit of inquiry, I’ve gathered evidence to showcase my understanding of the Learner Profile attribute:Thinkers. Take a look at the ways I have shown how I’ve developed these attributes and can now demonstrate how I am a thinker.



I have continued to work on my thinking skills in particular application and evaluation. In this unit I have learned much more about, and gained new understanding of the science concepts: materials, forces, gravity, design and structures.
