Based on the illustrations is that all of these children seem to come from poorer backgrounds. I can tell this based on their clothing and how dirty and unhappy they look. The conditions of the workplaces seem dirty cramped and dangerous. people were huddled together for 12 hours, based on my prior knowledge of this subject this caused the easy spread of disease and made it hard for people to get out of the building in case of something like a fire, for example, the Triangle shirtwaist factory fire.
