Thomas A. Nestor, M.D., Medical Corps. (Parachutist), U.S. Army. Awarded Silver Star Citation for "gallantry in action on Leyte, Philippine Islands on December 13, 1944. Despite the fact that an enemy attack had penetrated within thirty yards of his aid station, Captain Nestor, completely disregarding small arms fire, successfully performed a major operation which saved the life of a wounded soldier". He later earned the nickname "Capt. He was a Marine. During World War 2 Japan sent a bomb and it blew up near him and he got injured. Then when he went to the hospital he had pieces of the bomb in him. He was injured so bad that he won something called the purple heart. The purple heart is something someone gets when they are injured very bad and they live. Now my great nanny has a purple heart on her license plate.    Thank you!!!!!
