Giving children school supplies and backpacks.

Who: Children in the poorest neighborhoods of Detroit who don’t have enough money to buy school supplies and backpacks.

What: Many people barely get enough money for school so it would be hard for them to get supplies and all that.  So this project would try to stop that and let the people get supplies for school and be able to have them spend their money on food, and we can cover the supplies.  The problem exists because people are not making enough money at their jobs although they might also not even have jobs or spending it on drugs or non helpful things, so here we are trying to help the family’s in those neighborhoods to be able to get their children educated while they don’t have to worry about the supplies and backpacks.

Where: They would be in Detroit in the poorest Neighborhoods of Detroit

When: There is no certain time but people just have to buy the supplies and then a group could go out there and distribute the supplies.  They could get it done pretty quickly, like in two or three days.  But it could take longer.  I would like it to start near august so they have the supplies before school but not have to store it for five months.  I would like it to end near august.  I hope it does not take long so people don't have to start school with nothing.

How: At 8:30 the volunteers would have to buy food, then ship it.  So first the volunteers would go to the store, it should all end at 11:00.   Then they gather it then a bunch of the volunteers bring it to the destination and ask if the people need it and if they do we give it to them, and if not, we move to the next house.  Then when the whole two neighborhoods are complete, then we are done, it should all end near 7:30-9:00.

Cost: We will have to pay for all the supplies and backpacks.  The backpacks should cost $5 or less individually, the rest should probably cost individually under $1. We could try to collect the money through offerings or fundraisers, or try to get thrivent to help.  We could also maybe get the supplies from people who want to donate them or don’t use them anymore, in all it should cost near $500-$5,000.

WHO-- 

Homeless people and homeless centers.

WHAT--

People Need food, clothing , and other stuff. Small houses or places for the poor will need all the help and money they can get, because the poor or homeless  can’t pay them and the government might not help them.

WHEN--

It can maybe take up to 3-4 months maybe 2 or 3 if we work hard out of the classroom and on weekends for people who really want to.

 

HOW--

We can donate money, clothes, food. We can hold donations or a raffle. ( People can donate if they want to add more too! ) 

Here’s some math : 

Each raffle ticket will be 5$. . If 100 people buy at least 1 ticket; we will have : 500$, or if even more people buy or buy extras we can have 1000$. We will have prizes for 5 or 4 winners. Like homemade gift baskets like at the galah.

Who- Houses between Dartmouth St. and Carlylse St. on Grindley Park St., Acadamy St., Madison St.

What- It will be a raking service project during the fall.  It is a problem for mostly older people because it is harder for them to rake because they could get hurt while trying to rake.  We will go from house to house asking if they would like us to rake their front lawn.

Where- On Grindley Park St., Academy St., and Madison St. between Dartmouth St. and Carlylse St.

When- It will be a two-day project on November 14th and November 21st.  We will start it around 5:30pm and end whenever we finish.  It is on Saturdays so we don’t have to worry about school.  We will also meet at school at around 5:00pm then leave at 5:15pm 

How- We will take volunteers from 5th to 8th grade for this project.  If you have any rakes please bring them for yourself.  If you have extra rakes please bring at least one extra.  We will also be accepting parent drivers.  So if you are participating please ask your parents if they can drive.

Cost- There will be no cost except for gas.

What- the people in the hospital might not be able to have a Christmas at home being they’re sick and dying.  We would need toys, stuffed animals, and maybe something handmade.

When- this could maybe take about 1-2 months if we really focus but it might take 2-3 months.  We could get it to be around 1-2 months if we really put our hearts and minds into it.

How-  We could get this stuff by doing a book bingo.  We would need seventh or eighth graders to say what the numbers are and also write them down.  Then sixth graders could hand out the books that the kids or families want.

Cost- For toys you could go to Walmart under 10$ or you could go to dollar tree for cheaper. You could also go to Walmart for stuffed animals.  And then anything handmade is obviously something for you to make yourself.  At Walmart you can get stuffed animals for 10$ and under also.  And stuff from the dollar tree is obviously $1.00.

WHAT--Giving animals at the shelter baths if they may need them

WHERE--At the Michigan Humane animal shelter on 900 N Newburgh Rd, Westland, MI 48185

WHEN--I would maybe like to do this some time in December. I would like to do this because I think it’s fitting to help serve a business during the holiday season. 

 HOW--We would first go to a store to get the supplies we would need, next we would call the animal shelter before they know that we’re coming there. After that, we would drive to the shelter and then do our project.

COST--We will have to pay for the cleaning supplies that we would need, like a brush or comb, a tub or bucket (unless they have them there), soap, towels, etc. Usually, a brush and/or comb for pets usually cost about 5-15 dollars (according to Walmart.com). A tub or bucket for pets would be somewhat 100-150 dollars (according to Amazon). Now it is most likely that the shelter already has decent bathtubs, so we may not need to worry about that. Now most shampoos made for dogs are usually about 2-8 dollars (according to Amazon). Towels for dogs are usually about 13-36 dollars (according to k9ofmine.com). Now adding all these estimations together, you would get approximately 120-209 dollars.
