Not always getting where she deserves it, Barbara Jordan was an iconic figure for women's rights and civil rights. She earned her law degree at Boston University's Law School, where she was one of only two African American women in her class. She was the head of a few presidential election campaigns for John F. Kennedy, she was the first black woman to be elected into the Texas senate, first black women to serve in The House Of Representatives for Houston, and an infamous speech giver/ writer. While in Congress, she worked on legislation that promotes women rights, supported the equal rights amendment, and gave the famous 15 minute opening statement for the impeachment hearing of Richard Nixon.
