Book Discussions

Book discussions are a great way for students to use Padlet in the classrooms. Once the entire class has read a book, students can use Padlet to talk about the characters, theme and plot of the book. Students can also get online and discuss their favorite books with each other. Students would be able to jump on Padlet anytime during a reading discussion to post their questions and thoughts. This gives all students the opportunity to share their opinion. I would expect the student outcome to be more involvement and to get students more excited about reading and discussing what they read.

Analyzing a Quote

Students can use Padlet to analyze quotes out of books, articles, magazines, and other resources. This will give students the chance to feed off of each other. Some students' thoughts may provoke others, which in turn can provoke a discussion. Instead of simply going over important quotes in class, students will have the opportunity to discuss with each other online. Having a Padlet for analyzing quotes makes the task more exciting and interesting. With this, I would expect students to engage and think deeply about the things they are reading. I would want students to really interact with each other and share their opinions.

Exit Tickets

Exit tickets are a very easy and affective way to collect data from students. Exit tickets are a simple way to check the knowledge base of what a student learned in class or their prior knowledge. Padlet is a creative way for students to showcase their knowledge as an exit ticket. Students can get online and share two-three things they learned in class that day. This is a great time for informative assessment. Students will have the chance to recollect what they learned during the day. I would expect students to rethink and go back to what they learned during class. This would help solidify knowledge before the student goes home.

Thinking Maps

Padlet would be a great website to use for students to collaborate their ideas for a thinking map. It would let students intertwine and link their ideas together if they are brainstorming for a topic. This would also be useful if students just want to learn more about a certain topic they had interest in. Thinking maps are a great tool to use when organizing a paper or your thoughts. Some students would prefer technology based thinking maps rather than basic written down thinking maps. Students would have the chance to be more creative with the things inside their mind. The student outcome would be that students are expected to organize their thoughts in an innovative way, hopefully causing them to be more interested and engaged.

Question Bank

Students always have questions- some that are crazy and some that are sincere. Having a question bank where students can ask each other questions and ask the teacher questions is a great resource for kids. This give students a voice if they aren't the type to speak up in class. Having an open question bank is vital to student engagement and growth. Teachers can look at the questions and pull together a common base. This could even be used as informative assessment. I would expect students to ask questions daily and answer other students questions if they know the answer. This would help create a safe and comfortable environment for the students as well.
