July 11th- This summer I made it my mission to read more biographies. People's lives are absolutely fascinating! Today I read Thomas Jefferson: Life, Liberty, & the Pursuit of Everything by Maira Kalman. I am a big fan of the author, & we have several of her biographies in our library. As for Thomas Jefferson, among many other things, he was a great collector of books and enjoyed learning about everything. I guess that's one of the reasons I've always found hims so interesting. This book is a quick, easy read, that tells about Jefferson's many different interests and pursuits and even of some of his flaws. It's a great way to learn more about one of the most influential men in early American history.

July 12th- Wow....just wow! I am absolutely blown away by the ending of the book, Space Case by Stuart Gibbs. It has one of the best, surprise endings I've ever read! Besides the ending, this is an overall great read. Main character, Dash, and his family have been chosen as one of the first families to live on the moon and Dash suddenly finds himself wrapped up in one very puzzling mystery. What he discovers will amaze you! Bonus: This is a Bluebonnet nominee! Make sure to read this book!

July 13th- I've finished another Bluebonnet nominee...A Handful of Stars by Cynthia Lord. This was such a great read and tells a heart-warming story of friendship, understanding, and learning to let go.

July 14th- At the librarians' conference in April of this year, I received a complementary copy of the new book, I'll Wait, Mr. Panda by Steve Anthony. I'm so glad I finally made the time to read it. It's a very cute book that teaches young children the importance of patience, which is something we all can work on. It would be great paired with the Mo Willems' Piggie and Elephant book, Waiting is Not Easy!

July 15th- The Fog Diver by Joel Ross had me up late into the night, because I just had to find out what happened next. This Bluebonnet nominee is packed full of danger and adventure. It is truly one of the best books I've read, and I've already put the sequel on my order list. I can't wait to find out what happens to Chess and his crew in that book. Make sure to check this book out. You won't want to miss it!

July 16th-Have you ever said or done something really embarrassing & everyone laughed at you? Well, that's exactly what happens to a kid in First Grade Dropout by Audrey Vernick. This funny picture book is a reminder of what it feels like to be a first grader who slips up in a big way. Everyone can relate.

July 17th- When I was in 2nd grade, I read my first book about Helen Keller & was amazed at what she learned to do and all that she achieved even though she was deaf & blind. Her story has always been inspiring to me, so I ordered the book, Helen's Big World: The Life of Helen Keller by Doreen Rappaport, for our school library, knowing it too would inspire my sweet students who read it. This book is beautifully illustrated and is a great introduction into the life of two very amazing women, Annie Sullivan & Helen Keller. No matter whether you are familiar with Helen's story or not, this is a must- read.
