Nicaragua is a country located in Central America. It is the largest country in Central America. It has a population 6.851 million (2021). It is known for it's various lakes, volcanoes, and beaches. Along with it's volcanoes and lakes, the biggest threats in this country are deforestation, soil erosion, and water pollution. It is one of the biggest tourist attractions in the world. The capital is Managua, which also is the largest city and about one-sixth of the population lives in Managua. Even though it is a huge attraction, it is the poorest country in Central America. It has massive underemployment and poverty. It is bordered by Honduras, the Caribbean Sea, Costa Rica, and the Pacific Ocean. Temperature wise, the country is a more cooler place, it never does get insanely hot. The president of this Country is Daniel Ortega since 2007.

They celebrate big holidays such as Christmas, New years Day, Labor Day, and Easter. They also celebrate their own holidays such as, Independence Day of Nicaragua, Feast of the Immaculate Conception, and Sandinista Revolution Anniversary. Nicaragua gained independence from Spain in 1821 on September 15, they celebrate it every year for their independence. A day before that on September 14, they celebrate the battle of San Jacinto. Then every year on July 19 everyone goes to Plaza La Fe to celebrate the fall of the Somaza family's dictatorship, this is what they call Sandinista Revolution. They also celebrate Maundy Thursday on March 28. It marks the night as the last supper in the Bible.

One of their traditions which is one of the most popular is called La Griteria(The shouting). Everyone goes out on the streets and shouts and praises Mary. It is celebrated on December 7th every year. They go from house to house singing and praising Mary. They make many many altars. It lasts all night long. Then on December 24th, everyone go out and sets off fireworks together and gives many gifts including food and drinks for everyone. The food that is most popular Nicaragua are beans and corn.
Cultural comparison.

Nicaragua is an amazing country and is definitely somewhere a lot of people want to visit and indulge in all the fun activities they do there. They celebrate a lot more holidays then most average people do. The country is mostly Catholic so they all really celebrate the same religion together. Comparing our cultures, we do celebrate the same holidays but that is really about it. The food they eat and the traditions of going out and shouting and everyone getting together on the streets doesn't really happen much here. Out food is a lot different too, they do not really have a source of protein but our food almost always has protein in it. Even though that is a big problem in that country, many people still want to see and act in their culture and really understand what it's like to celebrate with them.
