Students need to have experience with using technology to deepen their understanding. Technology cannot just be another medium where students simply take tests or read material. It should be interacted with in a way that provides students with additional experiences to further their learning. The NETP outlined this in section 1: Engaging and Empowering Learning Through Technology.

I like the idea of incorporating technology use and integration into teacher education. Many teachers have successful webinars and Youtube channel pages that provide students with additional resources. I've always thought about attempting to do this. The fear or drawback I see is that there are so many option to technology integration. When teachers are asked to use additional technology techniques that can get overwhelmed OR don't continue to follow up with technology. I would love to help make decisions for a district or school that provides teachers with easier technology integration opportunities and teach these techniques to teachers.

One ideas that was brought up was the Technology Divide. Students need to be taught how to use technology effectively and responsibly. After coming from my old school, responsible technology use was difficult for students. This could be due to the fact that this was our first year of full 1 to 1 device accessibility. This problem of the technology divide was something I was noticing in my classes. I believe that when students have clear expectations and routines laid out by the school and classroom this problem will decrease. This could also be linked to technology use at home. Many students interact with technology in scenarios that could be seen as "not productive" such as online gaming or social media.

The NTEP article provided a lot of really awesome examples of technology being used in the classroom. Which of these resources are free and which are paid for?
- If they could provide a list or a symbol for each sample that would be helpful.
- I know that many technology resources some sort of cost to be incurred for the whole class to use.

I like the style and use of Padlet. I think the best I can apply it to my classroom would be to have students track their learning. This space allows for creativiity and ideas to be tracked over time. Students can upload documents, pictures or videos. As they do this, Padlet can be a way in which students track their thinking from the beginning to the end of the unit or concept. They can also add additional resources to their own Padlet or one made by their classmate. This to me shows how 21st century interactive word maps can shape the instruction for the future.
