Censorship is when books or films are banned so that people can't form their own ideas or "threaten security/ society." Kerosene is a symbol of censorship because it was used to burn and destroy books so that people would not be able to have their own ideas or beliefs. Furthermore, it symbolizes censorship when it is used to prohibit the growth of unique ideas.

We see the censorship theme throughout the book. It has a major impact on the world, as everyone knows that books are harmful and outlawed. Captain Beatty is a major supporter of this idea because he claims "A book is a loaded gun in the house next door."

In the photograph below and gif off to the side, Kerosene is being blasted into the air and towards houses. This connects back to the book's idea of Kerosene as a symbol of censorship because firemen from the novel, Fahrenheit 451, used it to burn down houses with books. By doing so, people did not have their own ideas or opinions.
