For a few of the lessons throughout the week I will assess the students understanding of the lesson by conducting a ticket out the door. I will come up with a topic that was discussed in the lesson, and have students write about it. It will only be about three sentences. This is great quick assessment to use to see if the students are understanding the materials, or see if I should go over a subject again. I think ticket out the door's are also a great way to get students to think quickly! The out the door part is a great way to let the students know that they can't get out the door until they finish writing about the topic!

Creating a Kahoot! quiz for assessing the students at the end of a lesson is a great way for teachers to gather information they need to see which students might not have understood the lesson. The quiz is also a fun activity for the students to do to help them realize that they might not have understood something. The quiz will show how many students got the answer right and how many got the answer wrong, but the students will not know who got it right or wrong. This is excellent information for the teacher to have, because this information can be used to form small groups, or to see what information the teacher needs to go over again in a different way which might help the students understand it better.

The idea of a "I wonder!" assessment is for the students to think beyond the lesson. This activity gives the students to write down what they wonder either regarding the lesson or even what the lesson didn't discuss. This allows students to think about the lesson and let them really dig into their brain about everything that was discussed. For this assessment I would give the students more time than usual for a ticket out the door assessment. I would not want to rush the students thinking process

This assessment is a lot like the ticket out the door! I think this is a great way to get students thinking and writing quickly! The idea of the 1 minute paper is for the students to write about as much as they can about everything they learned during class. Having the students write this is a paper form is giving them a little extra practice with quick thinking and writing. Also it is allowing the teacher to get a better understanding of the students are thinking rather than just reading a few sentences. Also if there is a problem with cheating in my classroom this activity will be great for students to write down their own thoughts rather than neighbors!

This assessment is based off three ideas that were talked about in the lesson. Two examples that are based off the lesson, and one thing you do not understand. I would give the students all a post card and have them write their names on the card and have the 3! 2! 1! Questions on the board so that the students can go back to the question or the statements while they are writing. This gives the students a chance to write down the things they have either learned or did not learn during the lesson. This assessment will be away for the students to assess their own knowledge and understanding. This information for the students is also a great tool for the teacher, because the teacher will be able to see where all the students stand with the information from the lesson without giving a test.

A great idea for a classroom assessment is having large pieces of chart paper hanging on the walls and allowing the students to write on them. On each piece of chart paper I will have a different title wrote on it and the students will either break into groups or do this individually and writing something they have learned on the chart paper. The students will read what is already on the paper and then the students will write something that is not already there.I will give the students 2 minutes to write something on the paper that is not already wrote down and then the students will move in a clockwise rotation to the next paper. I like this idea of assessing students, because this is also giving the students a chance to see what their classmates are thinking.

This assessment is great for an in the moment assessment. After discussing a topic I will instruct the students to do a turn and talk, here they will turn and talk about the topic. In my classroom I will designate a partner 1 and a partner 2. When I tell them to turn and talk I will then tell the class that I want either partner 1 or partner 2 to talk first. This way will insure that each partner is doing their share of talking and that not one partner is overtaking the talking portion. The turn and talk will only last 1 to 2 minutes and I as a teacher will be walking around listening to the different partners assessing what I am hearing and deciding if I need to discuss the topic future or if I need to repeat something

For an assessment like this I would have folders hanging on the wall that would say "Got it" "Almost!" "Kind of!" and "Nope!" At the end of the lesson the students will fill out an index card with what they understood from the lesson or what they still have questions about or what they just have no clue about. Since the folders will be on the wall and all the students will see who puts their paper in which folder I will enforce to the students that it is okay not to understand something. I think by reinsuring to the students that we don't understand everything the first or second time we hear a lesson, that I can create a classroom culture that is positive for everyone. This assessment is also allowing the students to assess theirselves about their understanding.

Since I am thinking that I would like to teach Kindergarten I looked for ticket out the doors for this grade. What I found really blew my mind! I found a math ticket out the door that would be perfect to do in the middle of the ten frame standard. This activity is a great way to assess the students knowledge without making this a test or homework. This assessment will give me the information I need to see who isn't quit getting the concept of the ten frame and who is understanding it. Teaching the students early on in their elementary school years about tickets out the door will help them have a clear understanding of what is expected from them for the future.

I love this type of formative assessment! This is a great way for the students to display either their understanding of the lesson or what they do not understand. To create a board like this in a classroom and to use it for an assessment I would at the beginning of the year instruct the students to create a twitter name that they will use the entire year. After a lesson I would then call the students by table to come up and write their tweet. Allowing the students to create their own name is giving them some privacy rather than just using their real names. Having the tweets displayed on a board will also allow me the chance to discuss with the entire class about common misunderstandings from the tweets.
