I can connect Wonder to the book Freak the Mighty because in both this chapter and Freak the Mighty two people who face challenges connect. In Wonder Miranda and August have a connection because the challenge Miranda faces is her parents divorce and the challenge August faces is his facial disfigurement. In Freak the Mighty the two main characters connect because one is exceptionally large and one is exceptionally small.

From the way Jack and Julian greeted him I could infer that they weren't comfortable around August. The way they greeted him was with a handshake and then a quick look to the ground.

The book starts with August attending his first day of his first year of school. The principal of his new school, Mr. Tushman assigns three kids Jack, Julian and Charlotte to help him on his first day of school. Jack tries to be his friend but he doesn't have the confidence. Jack then makes fun of him because of peer pressure. All of the students go to a nature retreat and August gets harassed by seventh graders.
