These pores are called stomata.  Water is absorbed by the roots and passes through water-carrying tubes (xylem tube )in the stem on its way to the leaves.                             Sunlight is absorbed by chlorophyll  in the leaves.         (Chlorophyll absorbs the sun’s energy.  )
     The food is sugar ,once the sugar is made it is transported to all parts of the plant through the food-carrying tubes (phloem tube).
   The excess sugar is stored either in roots or in the fruit . When it is stored it is called starch.
Sugar is also called glucose. Photosynthesis  takes place in the leaves .
