Florida used coal in 2001 to generate most of its electricity. Still, by 2019, it had switched to natural gas, which makes sense because one of the resources required for natural gas production is heat, and Florida is warm year-round. The cons for using coal as a resource in 2001 were that it was terrible for the environment, and it cost a lot of money to produce. The pros for using natural gas in 2019 were that it was way better for the environment, and it was more convenient, because it was easy to use heat to produce natural gas.

In 2001, Kansas used coal to produce electricity. Then they switched to wind in 2019. Kansas is recorded to be the 5th windiest state in the U.S., making it easier to harness wind from wind turbines. The cons of using coal in Kansas are potential respiratory illnesses, particulates, and Nitrogen Oxides, which contribute to smog. The pros to using wind turbines to generate electricity are that it is very convenient and better for the environment.

New York Compared to Florida and Kansas

In 2001, New York mostly relied on nuclear resources to generate their electricity. Now and from 2019, they have used natural gas. The cons of using nuclear resources are that if there is a leak in something, it can cause a widespread illness that can lead to death, or cancer. The pros of using natural gas are that it is better for the environment. Compared to Florida and Kansas, New York has not used coal for 24 years.
