Somebody: Anne Frank
Anne Frank was a young girl who was hiding from Nazis in Germany. She was Jewish which was against the law in Germany via Hitler

Wanted: 
She wanted to write down her experiences and feelings while she hid from the Nazi’s. She wanted to become a journalist once the Holocaust was over. 


But: 
Her family and her were caught in hiding and sent to concentration camps. Anne Frank ended up passing away from what is thought to be from disease. 


So: 
Her father who survived was able to obtain her journal and aspired to publish her journal to fulfill her lost dream of becoming something bigger than a wife and mother.

They will find out their culture and where they lived. How where they lived could have impacted their lives. (landscapes, culture, poverty, etc.) Once students obtain research, they can then write a letter to them as if they were to truly read it. They must include in their letter questions of how their lives were and compare it to how it is today. What would they do differently if they could? Any suggestions for the historical figure to do for their community? 

Once students write their letter to their historical figure, students will be able to write a real pen pal letter to a student from around the world. They will ask what their life is like and how the economy and landscape affect their living. Students will then share their received answers to the class and create a poster board with important features that affect their pen pal's life.
