Swiss people value cleanliness, honesty, hard work and material possessions. They are very proud of there environment and they have a long tradition of freedom. The way they greet is very similar to the way Americans greet people. The really only main difference is you are only suppose to call people you have just met by there last names. First names of people are only to be said by family or close friends. At dinner tables you call a waiter by saying Herr Ober and a waitress by saying fraulein, if you wave your hand it is considered rude. And also the Swiss are always looking at how neat you are, that is how it is for most people.

Catholicism and Protestantism is the most major religions. Catholicism and Protestantism are the same and are the basic practice, faith and church order of the Roman catholic church. The largest religious minority is the Muslim community, they represent over 2 percent of the population in Switzerland. The Jews has always had a small community and experienced a lot of discrimination. The churches are dependent on the state to keep church going. Common customs and traditions that happen in Switzerland are yodeling, alphorn and flag throwing just to name some. These traditions happen very often too in most rural areas.

They first were luging just to have fun, but 9 years later it ended up becoming a sport in the Olympics. The origin of where the first sled race took place was in St. Moritz, Switzerland. People say the sport was invented by Caspar Badrutt, but are not completely sure because there were multiple people creating different sports with toboggans. Luge is not nearly as big as it was in the first few years, but some people in Switzerland do watch the sport.
