Euphony - A series of musically pleasant sounds, conveying a sense of harmony and beauty to the language.

Use in the Poem: In stanza 2 and the first line of stanza 3, the author says "In the afterglow, cinematic shadows fled from flesh and blood." The words are nice to say and add ambiguity as you say them.

Effect: As the reader, the use of euphony takes the somewhat morose feeling of the end of the sentence and smooths it out.

Personification - Attributing human like characteristics to an inanimate object, animal, or abstract idea.

Use in the Poem: In stanza 1, the author says "Fire ran horrified from its ashes." He is giving the fire the human characteristic of running from its ashes.

Effect: As the reader, the use of personification make me feel a feeling of pity for the fire as it is trying to escape from what it's leaving behind.

Stanza Forms: The names given to describe the number of lines in a stanza unit.

Use in the Poem: The entire poem is written in a couplet stanza form.

Effect: As the reader, the use of a couplet stanza form makes me feel like there is more meaning associated with the last word of the stanza. It makes me focus on it more.

The poem is from a first person perspective. The speaker's attitude seems accepting of what's happening. When the author says "Scars appeared, followed years later by their wounds." it sounds like the speaker very analyitical and understanding of what has happened.
