The goal of this project is to help us understand other faiths and backgrounds of people we work, study or simply encounter in our everyday lives – this in turn impacting on the way we communicate to others from different religions.

Focus on gaining the knowledge needed to brain storm and create some material which may be presented in some way, (presentation, debate, Tik Tok, role play, poster/leaflet)

Project Tasks

• Session 1: Two young people from the Islamic faith will hold an interactive panel discussion and answer your questions. They will deliver a talk around the topics you indicated on the feedback forms you have submitted and they will provide further resources. 

• Session 2: Explore the resources and reflect on interactive panel discussion from the previous week.  Answer the reflective questions on this Padlet and acknowledge which attributes you have improved on.  

• Session 3: Create your poster/leaflet/TikTok/Presentation /debate once you understand your topic.

Activity topics

You may want to choose the following topics to create your work on:  

• What can the college do to create a more inclusive environment? Present your ideas through the options given.

• How learning about this faith directly helps you in your main course and future career - building your professional network, networking, retaining clients, building relationships. This can also include specific practices within your main course profession around inclusion and diversity.  

• Your personal everyday encounters - the way you relate to and communicate with others keeping in mind respect and awareness. This can include replacing false preconceived ideas of people from this faith with new knowledge. 

  
  

Activity Options

• Level 1 & 2 - Poster/Leaflet: Make them cool and catchy, so people will notice them. Use colours, pictures, and simple words to get your message across. Submit in a Jpeg or Png format. Please use Canva.com.

• Level 2 - Presentation: Present 10 minutes talk on your topic using slides to help you with the delivery. Make it fun and interactive.  

• Level 2 - Debate: Create a debate topic and why this is a controversial topic. Use this structure to help you.  

• Level 2 - Tik Tok: Create a short video of your topic. 4 maximum to a group. Make sure to include captions.  

• Level 2 - Role play: Simulate conversations amongst individuals from different faiths. Show empathy, understanding, and the ability to communicate respectfully and thoughtfully.
