Personal Connection- Conflict

When I was little, my grandparents had a small river flowing through their backyard. At the time while I was over there it had rained overnight and the rivers flow was pretty strong. Accidentally while trying to get back across from it to get back into the house, I slipped on a algae covered rock and got swept by the current and carried into the pond it flowed into. I blacked out shortly after because the next thing I remember was putting on clean clothes changing out of the wet ones.

This connection made me remember the scene where Bomber fell into the river that was enchanted and placed a spell where he was in a deep sleep

Bilbo Baggins has similar traits to this young boy. Throughout the book we have experienced and witness Bilbo change completely from being a homebody who feared to leave his small house or even think about adventure, to taking many risks, saving his fellow companions on the adventure, and starting to like it. Just like in this article, Donovan Smith, a teenager living in New Mexico, went from homeless to owning a business and helping out many others.

TED Talk-Setting

In this ted talk the man is telling the importance of not always being in control, and having others help you along through whatever. Just like in the book, the dwarves were always in control, then when they got into the forest and since then they realized it wasn't their place, they weren't used to that type of setting so relied on Bilbo to take the drivers seat and use his many skills to maneuver and guide them through the forest and mountain

Song- Mood/Tone

A song I felt connected to the story is "Out Yo Way" by Migos. In the song it says "You probably got your hands full, whatever goal you pursue, All this pain, we can live through it, it's called success"
"You always going out your way, you never ask me to repay". These lyrics make me think of when Bilbo goes out of his way, several times to save the dwarves. Bilbo has performed many risks, and in the end has been successful. The song fits the mood of being brave and having courage found throughout the book.
