Lady Macbeth's scene: Academic critisim
Observe

This image is Lady Macbeth sleepwalking, holding a candle, with her eyes open, but you can only see the whites of her eyes.
Question

Why would Lady Acbeth need to hold a candle if she is sleepwalking?
Analyze

It seems like the two other people in the room with her, are staring at her, unsure what to do.
Evaluate

I believe Lady Macbeth might be holding the candle even in her sleep, because she is scared of the dark. She can't find any comfort or reason, and now she is just scared.
Lady Macbeth Sleepwalking
Theater Michael Lynch's Stage Adapatation
Observe

Lady Macbeth is sleeping walking while talking about the murders of King Duncan and Banquo.
Question

Why did Lady Macbeth feel guilty when she was the one who convinced her husbadn to kill them?
Analzye

"Will these hands ne'er be clean." says Lady Macbeth as she thinks about the horrible thing she has done. It also might refer to the blood on her husband''s hands.
Evaluate

I believe Lady Macbeth feels so guilty for what she has done, that it has emotionally, killed her. She can't sleep without thinking or even talking about it. Lady Macbeth cannot live with the fact that she is the reason her husband killed King Duncan and Banquo.
Observe

Lady Macbeth is sleepwalking down stairs, while two people watch her closley.
Question

Is Lady Macbeth talking to herself, or is she arguing with someone?
Analyze

It sounds like Lady Macbeth is trying to reason with someone irrational, or sh eis struggleing eith her inner thoughts going back and fourth.
Evaluate

I believe that Lady Macbeth feels so stressed out and guilty that she needed to talk to someone about it to calm herslef, but she couldn't let anyone know she felt that way, so she dreampt.
1.11 Macbeth: Observation, Interpretation, and Critique
My interpretation of the source text, image, and play had some similarities. One major similarity was that Lady Macbeth only spoke of the murders with Macbeth. Although, in each presentation, she was sleepwalking while confessing to her sins, unaware people were watching her. The Images showed her stressed out and talking to herself, while she was sleeping. We can assume she was having a hard time dealing with this on her consience because she subcontiously confesses to relieve herself from the guilt she feels.
