Should texting and walking be illegal or legal? I think texting and walking should be banned because in today's world texting and walking has gone over board. It went as serious as someone walking off a bridge like come on! Phones distract the user of whats going on around them, the user is oblivious. Texting and walking is the 5th leading cause of death. THATS SERIOUS! Laws should be changed so less people get hurt, injured or potentially die. So stop, and get some help with your addiction of looking at your phone in the streets. Think to your self, is looking at bobs text that important? Or looking at Ali's cool Instagram post that important?

The reason why I say yes is because there is a bunch of reasons for yes and I don't feel like thinking of reasons for no. Billy Wong rules. But really if someone falls of a bridge because of their phone it's not worth it.(but #relatable I always fall off bridges). Everybody's gonna keep falling off bridges. So everyone who has a phone your gonna die.

The reason why I am undecided is because I think the issue with "walking and texting" isn't strong enough to pass a law. Then again, it is an issue that causes too many injuries and deaths. A 14 year old had stepped off a bridge while texting but then again it should be common sense to not walk down Mineral Spring Avenue staring down at your phone. I think if a law is passed of course it will change the way people behave with this issue but I think making an app could be enough. I feel as though people should know better enough to not look down at your device while crossing a street but then again parents are allowing children under the age of 10 to cross the street alone without looking left and right. So in my opinion, I am undecided whether or not there should be a law passed.

Should texting and walking be banned? Texting is part of today's world and it is something that has been rendered essential. If texting was not allowed at all except for at certain times, most people would not be able to communicate at all except with people around them. Of course, many people have been injured or killed, but that is really up to them. I think there are many other alternatives rather than to make this situation illegal. For example, some engineers at Rutgers University are piloting an app to warn pedestrians of what is happening around them, or that a city in London has padded lampposts for safety. I definitely believe that there are other alternatives rather than banning texting and walking.

The reason i am undecided because texting and walking can injury or even kill people. But on the other side almost ever one uses phone in ever day life. So if texting and walking is banned many people will be on happy because people uses phone in everyday bro life.. On the other other hand texting and walking is the 5th leading cause of death. Another reason is you are four times more lickly to get injured bye texting and walking. Also a easy way to fix this problem with people get injured from texting and walking is common scene. If you are walking down a busy street don't uses ure phone.

Even though texting and walking has caused over 11,000 injuries between 2000-2011. People are starting to come up with soloutions that dont require a law. Some say that a law is the only way to get people to change their behavior and to stop this crisis while others say that there could be other soloutions to this problem, such as an app on people's phones that warns them if they are about to step off the edge of a bridge or if they are about to walk into an intersection. This is why I am not sure if a law is needed to stop this crisis or not and there could be other soloutions to this problem.

I think that we should have a law for texting and walking. People love texting but is it that important to look at your phone, when you could put your life at a risk. We should have a law because 2016 through 2017 there were 6,000 pedestrian deaths. If you are younger than 10 years old than you should walk with an adult. You are four times more likely to get injured. If we had a law for this then we could see a decrease in injures and deaths. I seriously think if your that distracted by your phone and walking of a bridge than the government needs to make a law. The law would be if your text and walking then you should get fined.

I think we should not ban texting and walking because there are many ways to prevent getting injured like not wearing headphones so you can hear if a car is nearby, or like simply just moving to the side of the sidewalk to look at your phone and once you are dont just keep walking. If you are walking just simply wait until you get to your destination to look at your phone. Instead of making it illegal there are other sulotions to preventing injuries from texting and walking for example, some engineers at Rutgers University are working on an app that warn ytou when you are close to a crosswalk and you should look up.

I also think we shouldn't ban texting and walking because it's not necessary. There are LED strips called light lines that controls the traffic so the cars could stop when someone is crossing.

My reasoning on why I think their is no need for a law banning texting while walking is because that doesn't make sense. Yeah, people become seriously injured and sometimes die, but if we made a law banning it and we looked at our phone for five seconds while on the street, is someone going to call the cops on us? What are they going to do? Create traffic by trying to pass all the different cars JUST to get to someone who was looking on their phone? Ridiculous! What if a family member or friend of yours just had a serious medical problem and needs you to come IMMEDIATELY (for example, a heart attack) ,but the law provokes you from from checking your phone, what are you going to do? Wait another 15 minutes before actually seeing the text? It's just so stupid! Instead, people should be allowed 8 seconds to look at their phone before being told otherwise. Those are my thoughts on why I don't think it should be a law.

Should texting and walking be banned? No, texting and walking shouldn´t be banned because it is common sense. If you are walking and looking at your phone you should know when to stop to cross a road. Plus, what if one of your family members got hurt and they need you to come home immediately. In London there are pads on the lamp posts just in case you walk into one to prevent injuries. Also, engineers are piloting smartphone app so when you are near a crosswalk it will tell you to look up before you cross.

I believe that texting and walking should not be a law because not only is it common sense but creating a law would create chaos. There are millions of people with cellphones in the US, and a lot of those people probably text and walk. Making a law would make pandemonium among those people. There would be massive riots protesting it, and maybe even some violence towards the people that put it in place. Not only that but not everyone follows the law, either. Creating a law doesn't mean that it will solve anything. Even though most follow the law not all do and the people that don't will still text and walk.
