It is going to stay there for 1 martian year. (687 Earth days) And curiosity has more advanced features than mars pathfinder for example a huge change on the wheels so it can be able to cross more rocky terrain.

Curiosity has collected many samples and took many images  so scientists can investigate mars better and know how to implant life there.
