         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong><em>Do Now:</em></strong><strong>  <br>It's that time of year when many people make New Year's resolutions.  Name a goal you would like to achieve in 2020 and describe a way or ways you might reach this goal.  Please head paper using MLA format .Must be a minimum of five sentences.  <br><br></strong><strong><em>Name Tag Questionnaire:</em></strong><strong>  <br>Fold a piece of colored card stock,  and write your name on it in marker.  You may draw anything next to your name that indicates an interest, hobby... something about you.  On the inside, answer the following questions: <br><br>1) What was your favorite topic covered last semester in ELA?<br><br>2) What was  your least favorite topic covered? <br><br>3) What is your strongest area in English?<br><br>4) What is your weakest area in English?<br><br>5) What would you like to remain the same this semester for this class?<br><br>6) Is there anything you would like to change, and if so, what and why?  <br><br></strong><strong><em>Peer-Pairing</em></strong><strong>:  <br>Exchange your Do Now papers with a partner.  Ask your partner the following questions and write down their responses on their Do Now.  This will be handed in at the end of class along with your name tag questionnaire:<br><br>1) Do you play a sport and if so, which one?<br>2)Do you consider yourself shy or outgoing?  Why?<br>3) What was the last movie you saw and did you like it?<br>4) Describe the perfect dinner.<br>5) What would you do with a million dollars?  <br>6) What is one thing you're good at?<br><br></strong><strong><em>Introduction to the Puritans: </em></strong><strong> Working in groups of 4, students will answer their assigned question about the Puritans.  Each group will share their response with the class.
