C is helping Ms Z with this. The presentation went really well, they were a little nervous. C would change nothing really big, he liked it, and he learned a lot. Holland BPW was really easy to have kids in with convenient bathrooms and learning space. C said he liked the Energy park, going for the walk on the trail part, and being here in the morning. It was really cool that the leaders from Holland BPW came to see their presentation. Before coming here Holland BPW was putting flags out by C's house and he didn't know what all that meant, so his Mom explained it. He was excited that he got to come here and learn about it.

The day went by really quickly and flowed.

What surprised you?

Sunday we realized that we did not bring anything from BPW. Thank goodness I had supplies in my classroom and Molly grabbed snack and our badges.

What would you do differently? Overall the day worked out well.

What went well in this stage? Generating ideas was a fun experience. We started by giving the kids five minutes, then expanding their ideas by going up to the Holland Energy Park Museum. The kids had more time to expand their ideas when they came back down. They created about 100 ideas.

What surprised you? They worked really well as a team and really exceeded expectations.

What would you do differently? Honestly today was really awesome.

What resources do you need for checking in with your students? Having our norms up on the wall was a really great way to remind students of the norms they set for our time together. Being able to refer to that was helpful.

What went well in this stage? The kids really drove how this went. They had to figure out who their target audience was and decide if the ideas they came up with fit that.

What surprised you? We let them drive this part with guidance of here is this protocol and asked clarifying questions of why or how.

What would you do differently next time? Be flexible of what protocols will work for your group.

What went well in this stage? The kids worked really hard on creating a presentation. They picked what they wanted to present and they did a wonderful job. (L) The kids were driven and focused and seemed to have an appreciation for the importance of the question and felt motivate by the solution they created. (M)

What surprised you? They were very smooth the first time through. (L) Their passion and excitement around presenting. (M)

What would you do differently next time? This worked really well, I am glad that we have time for them to create a visual if they want this morning.
