From economical to racial issues, we have learned about different movements and people who were determined to make a change. One of our main focuses was AfriCobra which focused on giving POC artists a voice today. My piece 'Problem Solved' was created using Procreate which is a form of digital art. Materials such as the 'air brush' and the '6B pencil' were used on a blank piece of paper. I wanted the focus to be the prison cell up in flames due to the chemicals that were thrown into these people who were simply looking to live a better life. I wanted to emphasize on this issue because it was not something that was known by the people who currently reside in the United States. This was happening during Trump’s presidency and most people looked past it because they were focused on the fact that families were being separated. I hope that with this piece people can look back and remember something that in fact did happen. It reminded me of previous events that had occurred in world history, but because it was happening in the United States people did not put much care into it. It is sad that this huge and allegedly powerful nation comes up with some of the most ridiculous ideas and mistreats people whether they are US residents or not. The injustice that people of color must face daily when taken to the border is disgusting. They are people who still deserve basic human treatment and respect. They are not animals that can be simply caged up and sent back to where they came from.
