Globalization Has Decreased Poverty Levels Around the World

This article discusses the positive impact that globalization has had on the world's poorest people. About 40 years ago many Asian countries were suffering. Their GDP's were low and the people in these countries made just pennies every day or every month. Since globalization has ushered in more trade, these people have seen their wages rise tremendously. Due to various trade agreements, people in China, Vietnam, and India have increased production to meet foreign demand for their cheap exports. This has brought billions of dollars to these countries and expanded their GDP's tremendously. On a more personal level, the people in these countries are making far more dollars per day than they used to, and are using this money to create better lives. Americans and other westerners have benefited as well. People in these countries can now spend far less money on products and thus afford a far better standard of living than earlier generations.

Globalization is Destroying Non-Western Nations

The first argument made here is that the spread of cultures have created a world culture, although this world culture is not truly world-based, but rather based in Western culture such as blue jeans and McDonalds. The other big problem is that foreign investment has created a destabilizing effect on poor nations. Foreign Western companies and governments will invest tremendously in poor countries. While this is good in the short term, when these entities get nervous, they can quickly pull out of their investment, leaving the country with nothing. This can completely destabilize these poor local economies. Finally, globalization has taken power away from local governments and ceded it to a sort of new international, global government. This can take away from the autonomy and self-determination of citizens living in smaller and less powerful countries.

However, note that you can include links in your post. In this one, I was going to talk about how much an iPhone would cost if made in America. However, if I did this, I would be using information from outside of this picture. That is OK, but you must list your sources of information. You can link it as I have above.
