We agreed on making our first song be in the style of a country and rockabilly song from the 1950's. To capture the sound and feel of this style I came up with a shuffling simple 3 chord progression and Nathan played some country/rock n roll esc lead parts. Me and Louis used harmonies on the chorus to widen the sound and we drew inspiration from alot  of early country songs we'd heard of. James played the drums with a skiffle beat so the song definitely had a movement. 
I think overall we were very productive in this lesson, I managed to write the song in a couple of minutes and Nathan came up with lead guitar parts in a few minutes aswell through improvisation. We also rehearsed the song a few times and then recorded it. WhenI was asked what it was called I randomly said "shifting sands", which I instantly realised was an awful song title. But the lesson was very successful again, I had already written the song before we started the lesson so the time was spend working out bass lines and drum patterns. I suggested we add some harmonies aswell, overall all members of group played the song very well and we all picked it up comfortably.

The lyrics are based on general things I've seen in town so it's all mainly social commentary which would be in keeping with what a lot of ska music is written about. I had the main bones of the song ready before the lesson had started but then the rest of the group came up with their seperate bits and the song was put together in the lesson with time to spare. Overall I think the quality of the song was very good, it needs abit of tweaking so it's more controlled as it was abit mad in places.
